2016 Week 51 Recap: Merry Christmas!

December 19-25, 2016

Week 52…because next week is already 2017…say that again?! It really is already 2017 next Sunday. Ok.

I only had to report for work on Tuesday and Friday, and was allowed to work from home. Thanks, boss. The rest of the days, I was on offset.

Monday, December 19

Last Monday, I went to Baclaran to buy some stuff. I went there straight, after attending the dawn mass. There were already a lot of people but some shops are still closed while most open shops were still unloading their items for sale. I went to Jollibee then for breakfast first. But when I was there, I saw many people already with big plastic bags filled with goods. How did they do that? Maybe, they already know where to get their stuff. As for me, I still need to canvas.

There was one new mall that sells everything wholesale. Good for reselling. It’s mostly infants’ and children’s clothes. There were also some stalls in the other malls selling factory overruns.

I was able to buy some of the items I was looking for. Not much but a good start.

From Baclaran, I went to Landmark Makati to buy some small containers as I don’t want to bring all the big bottles of my kikay kit all the way to Baguio but I don’t want to leave them either hehehe.

Thursday, December 22

On Thursday AM, I am already on my way to Baguio. I went straight to my brother’s place to drop off the stuff I bought in Baclaran.

I went to SM Baguio after for a much needed pedicure (was not able to do this in Manila anymore hehehe). I went to Baguio Cathedral after for the evening mass.

I went to Tea House in Session for dinner. No, not Vizco’s this time. It was because my friend recommended their ube delight. And true enough, it was yummy and ok for repeat orders.

Friday, December 23

Started work in the morning and went out in the afternoon. My niece joined me this time. First stop was the bank. Good thing they still have regular office hours last Friday. From the bank, we went straight to Baguio Cathedral for the evening mass, and also the last mass for the simbang gabi.

We first went to Victory to reserve our tickets. There was a line. And my niece was hungry hehehehe. She had to wait for a while, and then walk back to SM for dinner. When asked what she liked, she said burger and fries and drinks and chicken.

We were supposed to go home after dinner but the taxi line was long so we roamed around for a while. After an hour, when we checked the line again, it was still long. This time, she asked me that we go back to the department store. Something fishy. She wants something hahaha! I asked her straight what she needed. Her straight answer? Shoes. Lagot. Hahaha! I brought her to the less expensive ones. She wants some doll shoes but we can’t find one in her size and with a good design. But then I saw a pair of rubber shoes and when I showed it to her, she liked it. Very good.

Cabs were already scarce by the time we went in line so we had to wait a long time. At one point, my niece even suggested that we walk home. Ay. We are 9 KMs away from the city. Cannot be, and it was already close to midnight. We were able to get a ride and reached home around 12:30 AM already. My niece can’t still believe that it will be morning soon when she asked the time hehehe. I think it was her first time to stay out that late hehehehehe. BI tita here  😛  😛  😛 .

Saturday, December 24

I stayed home this day. I wanted to attend the evening mass but transportation is a challenge in our place.

I taught my nieces about online banking.

I also bought a selfie stick which I practiced using for a while and then it went to my niece’s possession for the rest of the day.

At 5 PM, I suddenly decided to host dinner for us siblings. Nothing fancy. Just chicken adobo and salad. And it’s because on the 25th, we all have different plans hehehe.

Sunday, December 25

I was able to attend the last mass in the morning in our parish. The BF was invited to a Christmas lunch by one of the parishioners, and he tagged me along. This parishioner happens to be my uncle’s former colleague. They are now both retired. Small world.

It’s a regular working day for the BF (which I don’t get really since it’s Christmas…) so we stayed in his office and I waited for him until he was done, only to part ways again hehehehe.

Change in plans

We are supposed to be on our way to Manila now. However, our mother’s uncle passed away last December 23 and us kids need to take over our mother’s clan responsibilities so we cancelled our Manila trip we are going to Bugias, Benguet instead tomorrow. I’m excited for this detour but I’m dreading the very cold weather. It’s even colder there than here in Baguio.

We will resume our Manila trip on the 27th. We’ll play it by ear as to what time will that be. It depends on what time we’ll be arriving in Baguio from Buguias. If it’s too late, my cousin will just bring the kids to the terminal and we’ll go straight to Manila. Wala nang uwi-uwi  for the adults who are coming with us hehe.

Thank you, dear Lord for your unending blessings even if I am undeserving. I am forever grateful.

Merry Christmas everyone!

Mama and the Cabinet

Shared this in my FB this afternoon while waiting for a cab/jeep to town. I also want to post it here.

Namiss ko bigla ng mas matindi ang nanay ko kagabi so nirerecall ko ang mga memories with her habang tinititigan itong cabinet. At naalala ko ang convincing powers nya 😀 😀 😀 .

Few days before Christmas 1998:

Mama: Bili ka ng cabinet mo para may remembrance ka sa DOST allowance mo. (sa mga boxes lang kasi nakalagay ang mga damit namin noon dahil hindi lahat kasya sa isang aparador lang hehe)
Me: Ay mahal ang cabinet.
Mama: Hindi, may tig 500 lang.
Me: Sure ka?
Me: Sige, basta 500 lang talaga ah.

December 23, 1998 – Balingit Home Furnishing

Tingin-tingin ng cabinets. Walang tig 500.

Me: Haaayyyy.

I’m that cabinet in this story 🙂

On the other hand, jeep/taxi, wer na you? Magsasarado na uli ang bangko hehehe.

2016 Week 50 Recap: Holidays are Just Around the Corner

December 12-18, 2016

Week 51…meaning to say, week after this week is already Week 1 of 2017 because January 1 falls on a Sunday. 2016 is almost over. For real. Parang kaka-2016 lang kahapon.

There was a dinner invite from one of the bosses last December 12 but I declined because I was on offset that day. I chose bumming over free buffet and possible winnings from raffles. Akalain mo yun hehehe.

And since we were done with our team party on the first week of December pa lang, last week was a regular work week which was all about work work work hahaha. We are finalizing all enhancements requirements for one of the systems so that when we get back in January, we move on right away to development. At least there are sure things to do after the holidays, which is a good thing.

On Saturday, I invited myself over to my friend’s place for lunch. Yes, nagvolunteer talaga akong makikain para tulungan syang ubusin ang take home lechon and leche flan from their party hehehe.

After lunch, we went to Shangri-la Mall again to watch Shang’s feature of the week in celebration of their 25 years. This time, it was ABS-CBN Philharmonic Orchestra with Maestro Gerard Salonga. Syempre bilang si Gerard ito, we made sure that we were nearer the stage so 5PM pa lang, nandon na kami kahit 7PM pa yung start. Nagpapa-upo naman na kasi sila by 6PM din so tama lang that we were there early.

But good to see that most of the orchestra members are the young once. Passion talaga siguro nila kaya don na sila tumanda. And let me just say, ang galing-galing din ni Gerard hehehe. As my friend said, nasa kanilang magkapatid na ata lahat ng anything music.

They also have a special guest. Timmy Pavino of The Voice Season 2, from Team Lea. Gerard said he’s one of his personal favorites. He sang 3 songs with the orchestra playing their instruments. Ang hirap siguro non. Lahat ng instruments maririnig mo at medyo iba ang arrangement sa orchestra so dapat talaga magaling kang tumiming at makinig hahaha. Hula ko lang naman.

Maestro Gerard Salonga

Timmy Pavino. Sing with him daw.

Still Timmy Pavino, closer.

We had dinner at Yellow Cab dahil bukas na sya finally!

We also went to Megamall after to claim the plaque. Ayun, nakalimutan nila ang OR kaloka. So until now, di ko pa nakukuha. Maybe tomorrow.

Alam ng friend kong may Converse sale sa 5th floor so sabi namin daan kami saglit. Nung una sabi namin parang mahal pa rin kaya medyo nadiscourage kaming magcheck mabuti pero maling presyo pala yung tinitignan namin. Ayun balik halughog at syempre pa, may bitbit paglabas hehehehe. In fairness, more than 50% off naman ata yung nabili ko. Dating 3k++, nabili ko ng 1.5k na lang. Pwede na.

On Sunday, I was supposed to do another general cleaning pero ewan ko ba kung bakit tamad na tamad akong kumilos. Ayun, dinner and kwentuhan after mass bago kami umuwi.

The end.

Enjoy the holidays!

Ako? Can’t wait to go home to my kingdom!

2016 Week 49 Recap: Parties…Oopps, Just Party

December 5-11, 2016

#latepost char! Hehehe.

I forgot to mention in my previous post that we had our team building at Mt. Purro Nature Reserve in Antipolo last December 3-4. The place was big but I wasn’t able to check it out since we arrived at night. We were 21 in the team and they were able to accommodate us. We left at around 2AM kasi si teammate-driver may susunduin sa airport kaya sumabay na rin kami sa kanya pabali, or at least yung mga sakay lang nya hehe.

Sayings at Mt. Purro’s restaurant wall.

We also had our Rewards and Recognition last December 7 at 7 Flavors. Masarap yung food nila. My first buffet for the month hehehe. We had the usual games, awards to recognize top performers (na dito ako hirap yearly kasi bukod sa deliberation, sa akin naka-toka ang printing of certificates and ordering of plaques…), chika or kalokohan awards hehe, and of course exchange gifts. The boss of the boss was able to join us so that’s good.

Last December 11 was also the company’s year end celebration but I did not attend. Bakit nga ba? Hehe. Hagardo kasi ako last weekend. But next year will be our 20th year so I’ll attend…maybe  😛 .

I saw Factory Overruns on FB and I was interested to check it out on Saturday so hinatak ko ang friend ko para samahan ako. Medyo interested kami to buy samples pero pareho kaming walang dalang pera so bumalik kami don ng Sunday. Ayun, kaya hagardo.

Balik Saturday. We also watched the Manila Philharmonic Orchestra at Shangri-la Mall. Meron silang ganitong ganap every Saturday at 7PM which started last November 19 with Jose Mari Chan!  The Company rin last December 3! Sayang!!! Late na namin nakita yung poster. Pero this December 17, manonood uli kami. ABS-CBN Philharmonic Orchestra naman with Maestro Gerard Salonga.

Shang’s stage area.

Shang’s ceiling decors!

We went to Megamall after the show for dinner at Soi. Masarap food dito! At healthy healthy type pa hehe.

I looked for a rice cooker after dinner. May nagustuhan ako pero walang stock na available. Bigo. At ewan ko rin kung bakit bumigay ang rice cooker ko. 5 years old pa lang yun eh.

I also looked for a router. Sira na rin router ko. Kailangan sabay talaga with rice cooker?! I tried to reset the one I have pero ayaw so I think sira na talaga. While there were candidates, di ako maka-decide because I haven’t really researched yet kung anong maganda these days. May nirecommend ang teammate ko, however, order sa OLX eh ayaw ko na ng waiting time.

Chikahan galore ng more than 2 hours…sa kalsada hahaha. Happy for him. The fiance sounds and looks and feels mabait and nice. At at at! Whew, savings! While may mapagbubunutan naman ako ng pambili ng bago, hindi kasi sya para sa router talaga eh so ang hirap bunutin hehehehehe. Thanks again, my friend! I was able to successfully set it up after 10 years kasama nang pakikibaka with Smart Bro customer support!

Last Sunday pala when we went back to Factory Overruns, kumain din kami sa Wan Chai after. Meron silang promo every Sunday (not sure if my specific time range lang) ng Php 47 for some dimsums. Marami-rami naman yung mapagpipilian in fairness. Dimsum fiesta!

Uwi na after lunch kasi pumunta pa ako ng Pioneer Center to look for…rice cooker uli. Ayun, successful this time, buti na lang.

The end.

Anyway, Merry Christmas!!! Sana merry and blessed ang pasko nyo!

2016 Week 48 Recap: Hello December!

November 28-December 4, 2016

December na talaga! Talagang-talaga! Sobrang bilis naman ng panahon.

I was on offset on November 28-29 so I was still in Baguio those days.

On Monday, after my nieces’ classes, they came to my home so I took that opportunity for us to discuss the 3 basic laws of money from the book The Retelling of the Richest Man in Babylon by Rose Fres-Fausto (1. Pay yourself first.; 2. Get only into business you understand. Seek advice only from competent people.; 3. Make your gold work for you. Make an army of golden slaves before you buy luxury.). I tried to explain it to them in the simplest way I can. I’m not sure if they were able to grasp it all but hopefully, even just a few things. We’ll have another session maybe during December break to review.

My niece also showed me her certificates. Kaya pala nya ako pinapatawag ng Friday evening last week. Gusto raw nyang ibalita about this. Aba, bibo! Hehehe. Proud tita here but di ko masyadong pinapakita sa kanya kasi baka maging feeling entitled hahaha.

1st Quarter

2nd Quarter

I traveled back to Manila on Tuesday night, after spending a few hours with the BF.

Wednesday was a holiday so still no work, yey! I needed to buy some stuff so I forced myself to go to the mall early evening. The things I needed were not in Megamall though so I went to Trinoma to complete my errand hehe. Yehey to extended mall hours! Hehehe.

Saturday was for domestic chores.

My friend and I met on Sunday to have lunch at Kettle! Finally, we were able to have seats this time! The food was great. We loved the chicken and the potato strips and especially the dip. However, it would have been best if we ordered some soup to to balance out all the fried food we had hehe.

Sarap! Di kami gutom

Sarap! Di kami gutom :p

We went to Greenhills after because according to my friend, she saw a dupe of the Missha hand cream. Years ago, she gifted me with a Missha hand cream and I loved it that I have been looking for it all over the place to no avail. Then she said she saw a Korean shop in Greenhills that sells hand creams with almost similar formulation of the Missha hand cream. Well, it is, but the Missha is still better hehe.

Heard mass in Greenhills too, then headed home after to rest some more.

Have a great week ahead. Or a great weekend bilang Friday na uli bukas! Hahaha!
