2018 Week 16: Execution Leadership Sessions

April 16-22, 2018

It was my mom’s birthday last April 20. If she was still with us, she would have been 70 years old already. I miss you, Mama. I have a lot of stories to tell and questions to ask. Kaso waley ka naman na. Anyway, keri ko ito hahaha.

I think the only other highlight of last week was that we started studying the book “Execution: The Discipline of Getting Things Done”. So far, I’m liking this activity because I am learning a lot. Wait, it would be better if I make a summary of the things that resonated with me each week in another blog entry so everything is consolidated.

And other than that, I can’t think of any other significant update. Hala! Wala rin akong social life last weekend. I just spent the entire weekend at home doing nothing, well, sometimes playing and watching YouTube videos. Ang init naman kasi. Ang hirap kumilos hahaha. There goes my lame excuses again.

And so, the end.

2018 Week 15: Anything New?

April 9-15, 2018

Wala na akong maisip na witty title haha.

April 9 was a holiday, therefore I had another day in Baguio. I started checking out Baguio wedding suppliers and I got so confused because there were a lot. Napagod ako just by looking at the list hahaha. Sumakit pa ulo ko. So tinigilan ko muna.

I went back to Manila in the evening na.

The following day, I was not feeling well so I opted to stay home and rest. Sayang ang leave pero ayaw ko ring ipilit.

The rest of the week was dealing with issues after issues.

On Thursday also, I had to cram with all the reading assignments for the Execution sessions.

On Friday, I had to talk to my boss because I was not feeling good about everything work-related. I was relieved after that talk and I’m glad I did it.

The weekend was spent for domestic chores plus a dinner with a friend on Saturday. We went to Bag O’ Shrimps in Megamall. We enjoyed the food! Ang sarap ng timpla ng shrimp. However, it is best eaten talaga if kamay without the plastic glove hehehe. Pero sa sarap, ni-takeout ko yung sabaw together with 2 or 3 shrimps pang-ulam the next day hehehe.

The end.

2018 Week 14: Book Club | Ninang Duties (Again)

April 2-8, 2018

My boss enlisted me in a “book club” in the office. Basically, we are a group who will discuss the contents of the book “Execution: The Discipline of Getting Things Done”. There are assignments every week and we are expected to participate in every discussion. It’s an activity that needs a lot of brain cells. For instance, for our first session this Thursday, we have a reading assignment of around 60 pages. Then there are 3-4 questions we need to answer. Ganern. I know it will help me grow. Matinding focus at intact na brain cells lang talaga ang kailangan hahahaha! But ultimately, the expectation is for us to be able to apply the learnings from the book. That’s why the facilitators are insisting that it is not just a “book club” hehehe.

I went home again for the weekend to be a godmother to my niece who just had her confirmation on April 8, 2018. It was on the Feast of the Divine Mercy. Their confirmation was officiated by Bishop Victor Bendico of the Diocese of Baguio.

The parish officers prepared a simple lunch after.

In the past, I know that the fiesta was a big event in the parish. However, this year, it was just low-key. I’m guessing that it’s because of the upcoming blessing of the church because the target completion is in the next 3-4 months hopefully. So I guess, that’s where the big celebration will happen.

Velmarie3 (04082018)

↑The confirmandee and her mom and her little sister at the back. May topak si bunso. Gusto atang mag-McDo pero lahat kami tamad nang pumunta sa town. Ayun, ayaw magpapicture.

Velmarie4 (04082018)

↑Falling in line for lunch. Ayaw pa rin sumama ni bunso.

Velmarie5 (04082018)

↑Ayan, medyo nawawala na topak. Konting inarte na lang hahaha!

After lunch, I went to look for the BF para magpaalam na uuwi na kami. Naabutan ko sila sa likod ng church na nagpipictorial. Aatras na dapat ako (shy ako) pero nakita na ako ni Father at ng mga elders at tinawag ako so no choice but to go near them. Ang awkward hahaha. Shy talaga ako. Pinagpiyestahan kami. Picture daw. Gusto ko magpapicture pero syempre sa phones lang namin. Pero hindi. Naglipana ang mga cellphones left and right. Bakit? Di ho kami celebrities hahahaha.Picture din daw with the ninongs and ninangs. Ha? May ganon na agad agad? May nalalaman pa silang hawakan ang bulaklak daw na nakalagay sa bilao hahahaha. Nakakaloka ho kayo hahahaha. But anyway, we still had fun. Lalo na sila hahahaha.

↑Ayan ang pabulaklak sa bilao nila. Pinapabuhat sa akin yung nasa tabi ko kaso ayaw ko hahahaha!

The end. Have a great week ahead.

P.S. All shots are from the iPhone X which I won in a raffle promo last year. Yes, finally after more than 2 months in my possession, naiset up ko na rin sya hehehehe. Haven’t explored yet most of the features but I’m loving the battery life so far!

2018 Week 13: Holy Week Break

March 26-April 1, 2018

It’s April already! First quarter of 2018 has gone by just like that.

Anyway.

I was looking forward to this week because it means spending more time at home.

I hitched a ride with a friend on Thursday. We left Manila at 4:30 AM and reached Baguio at 4:30 PM. The travel time includes all the traffic in NLEX, Pangasinan and La Union, traffic in the restrooms at the stopovers and the accident we were involved in. My friend’s car got hit at the rear because the driver behind us fell asleep. I guess it was a good thing that it was traffic so the impact was not that strong. No one was hurt. The driver was cooperative and accepting of his fault, hence the police report was easily accomplished. It will now just be a hassle for the repairs of the cars but that will happen in time.

I dropped by Good Taste to buy food that will sustain me and my brother at least until Friday hehe. The rest of Thursday was spent for sleeping.

I just stayed home on Friday and fixed some stuff. My brother and I also designed a new cabinet because the first that he made doesn’t fit the space in my room as a whole. We’d have to make a dissected version. Also, I changed my mind about having only one bedside table in the master’s bedroom. I want one on both sides of the bed so he’ll make a smaller version. The first set he built will be used in the other rooms.

The nieces and I met with an aunt on Saturday supposedly to visit another aunt at the hospital but she went out earlier that day as per the nurse. Ok, maybe next week for this.

The plan was to attend the Easter vigil after the hospital visit but given the case, my aunt just decided to go home and catch the Easter vigil at their parish.

We also dropped by Ace Hardware to buy some door handles. I am a little frustrated because everything that I want is out of stock. Even at SM Megamall actually when I also tried to check it out earlier last week. Anyway, I’ll check other branches if needed.

Sunday morning was still spent at home. I attended the afternoon mass in our parish, after which the BF and I went to Good Taste (again) for dinner before my trip back to Manila.

bty

The end.

I hope you all had a meaningful Holy Week and a productive week ahead.
