2018 Week 12: Weekend at Home

March 19-25, 2018

I went home on March 22 because I was on birthday leave for March 23.

Birthday muna. Some of us contributed an amount to treat our teammates with Ambers and Andoks goodies last March 22. I also received a card and a small gift from the team. I love the books! One of my teammates knows I am also passionate about personal finance since we’ve had conversations about it in the past because she’s also training to be a financial adviser on the side.

Then of course, the customary birthday dinner with the BF on March 23. Single celebration for the both of us since his birthday is March 24.

March 24 was lunch with the siblings and their kiddos and grandkids at Good Taste.

TeamPilitz (03242018)

↑Team PiLitz hehehe. PiLitz is from the combined name of our father, Pido, and one of the nicknames my mom frequently used which is Litz (short for Lolita, and besides her other common nickname, Lolit). That will be our team name moving forward unless other siblings have a better suggestion.

GoodTasteHaloHalo (03242018)

↑Halo-halo to beat the summer heat. But actually, it was colder than usual that weekend.

After lunch, we went to the Bureau of Plant Industry (BPI) to check out if they have calamansi for sale. Unfortunately, they were closed on Saturday. However, my sister in law’s cousin works there so I was able to get the information I needed later that week. They have grafted plants for sale at Php 50.00 each. Perfect. I’m not just sure if this is the dwarf type. What I’m aiming is for the calamansi trees that can just grow on big pots so that it’s easier to rearrange the backyard if needed.

Our father used to frequent BPI when he was still alive and stronger. This is where he used to get all the citrus fruits he planted. It was good to visit again one of his happy places.

From BPI, we went to Ace Hardware in SM. I am looking for cabinet handles. Unfortunately, they don’t have stock on the handles I wanted. The search is not yet over.

I also learned that my niece has an ongoing training in Sitel. I am happy is an understatement. I am excited for her. And I am praying that this is the start of a better future for her and her daughter.

We spent the morning going over her contract and giving her some pep talk about how it is in the corporate world. And of course the discussion about how she should be handling her finances. I know I  go overboard sometimes because that is already her personal business but I just want her to start practicing good money habits as early as her first salary. The first few challenges I gave her were a) to start saving for her emergency fund, b) set aside a specific amount for her retirement, c) set aside a specific amount for her daughter’s college fund, and d) save up around Php 30k-50k so that she can build a small house.

The Php 30k-50k is more than enough to build a simple house made of galvanized iron for the roofing and walls and at the very least, rough cemented flooring. We’ll build it via bayanihan to save on labor. This is good for a start. She can always improve it when future budget permits.

Hopefully, these will all materialize and she’ll not be tempted with all her wants and focus first on her needs.

On Sunday evening after mass, the BF and I went to 108 Session Road to listen to some live bands over a couple of beers (for him). This is to pass the time while waiting for my 9 PM trip back to Manila.

2018 Week 11: Ninang Duties | S&R Sale

March 12-18, 2018

First, happy birthday in heaven, Daddy! I miss you and Mama everyday! (March 20, 2018)

And for the updates…

It’s that time of the year again for the most awaited S&R sale. I did not physically go but I have enabler friends hehehe. I asked her to pick up some snacks, chocolates, honey citron tea and conditioner for me. I had to stop myself from buying all the things on sale. Bawal umiyak ang wallet.

HoneyCitronTea

↑Honey Citron Tea which I have yet to try. I learned about this from Mommy Fleur hehe.

↑Isingit ko lang ito. Not from S&R but a teammate shared it to us and it is so good! I need more of this!!!!

I went home last weekend for the thanksgiving celebration of my friend and her family. I tagged along my nieces. I had the permission to do so.

First, celebration for the baptism of her kids. I am a godmother to her last child. The church is in Rosario La Union and the celebration is at their residence at Camp 3, Kennon Road. They have a strategic location because it’s just 30-40 minutes away from both Baguio and La Union.

It was also their 10th wedding anniversary last March 14. One decade of staying married is surely something worth celebrating.

Lastly, it was her birthday last March 16 so another reason to celebrate.

↑Me with the nieces.

We left their home early afternoon. My other friend and her hubby dropped us off in town so my nieces and I went to SM to window shop. I was able to buy new curtains that match the new paint in my room. It’s in light gray.

We also had early dinner before heading home. I slept early on Saturday night because I barely slept during my trip home and we had to leave early that morning. I woke up after 9 hours. Sarap.

On Sunday afternoon, I stayed in Starbucks SM to work for a while while waiting for the BF to finish his work and meet up with me. We just had dinner and then went to the terminal to wait some more for my 10PM trip.

↑Dinner at Sizzling Plate along Session Road. We ordered their Australian porterhouse. I also ordered one sansrival which is still so good. Lamon pa besh!

↑Goofing around at the terminal while waiting for my trip. We spent a few minutes listing down our potential entourage and potential principal sponsors. I’ll write dedicated posts for anything wedding-related.

The end.

Have a great week ahead. As for me, I can’t wait to go home again on Thursday night hehehehe.

2018 Week 10: Nothing Much

March 5-11, 2018

There’s really not much last week.

At work, we were asked to do a self-study on Power BI on our own time. It’s challenging to find the time but at least, there’s something new learned after the self-study.

I learned from my brother that a cousin in the US died. Sadness. He’s still young. Well, maybe in his late 40s or early 50s but still…Naunahan pa ang nanay. At sumunod agad sa tatay who also passed away in April 2016. Sadness.

I was hoping to score a flight when Cebu Pacific had their seat sale last March 8-9 but I wasn’t lucky. The site was down the entire time I was trying. Paasa lang.

I am going home for 4 consecutive weekends starting March 16 so I booked all the needed tickets in advance, so all good on the ticket front. Pocket money na lang hehehehe.

I found an Elorde Gym near the apartment (around 20 minutes walk) but I have not yet contacted them for inquiry. Susko ang balik alindog program ko di ko pa rin talaga nasisimulan. Kamusta naman teh?!

I informed my college BFF about my December milestone and she wants to come home. Sana nga makapagbakasyon sya and her family in December! I would really want her to be there!

I was supposed to start looking for wedding checklists but I got overwhelmed with the overflowing information so I did not continue hahahaha! Next weekend na lang uli if may time. I need a hashtag though, I think. I asked 2 friends to help me with that.

And that’s really it.

Have a great week ahead.

2018 Week 9: Weekend At Home | Panagbenga | New Room Paint

February 26 – March 4, 2018

I went home to Baguio last weekend for some R&R and a special errand.

I left Manila on Friday evening and arrived in Baguio after 3.5 hours! I booked at JoyBus so that the route will be SCTEX and TPLEX without stopovers.

The very first thing I did as soon as I arrived was to check on my newly painted room. I love how it turned out. It’s waaaayyyy more relaxing than its multi-colored predecessor. While it was expensive to redo it, I’m glad I pushed for this project.

The color is a lighter version of whipple blue from Titan Paint’s brochure. The painters mixed 3 color options and my brother picked the best choice from there. Basta I loved how it turned out kasi ang aliwalas talaga and nakaka-relax yung color.

I spent a few hours on Saturday morning putting things back in my room. I am so back in my room hahaha!

My nieces and one of my grandchildren went out in the afternoon for some Session Road in Bloom experience. But first, lunch at Jack’s Restaurant. My auntie met us too.

Lakwatsa(03-04-2018)

↑The kid in the middle turned 7 last March 5, hence, she’s now included in the cast of the regulars who always come with me to gallivant hahahaha!

Panagbenga2018-1

↑Sundae for a hot day.

Panagbenga2018-2

Panagbenga2018-3

↑Photo ops and a quick break from all that walking.

In the evening, the little ones went home with my sister and brother-in-law while my aunt, teenager niece and I stayed behind for the night market hihihi!

Panagbenga2018-4

↑Waiting for the night market to start at 9PM. Literal palang night ang simula nito hahahaha!

There were a lot of nice pieces but not for my size hahahaha. Saklap. But I was able to buy an outfit for my niece’s confirmation in April. Sya talaga nakinabang bilang ang payat nya hahahaha. Even my aunt was a little sad because wala rin syang mahanap na cardigan hahaha. Ako jogging pants na tig bente lang naman ang hanap ko. Merong isa wahahaha.

On Sunday, I invited some aunties and uncles for an early birthday lunch and for an announcement hihihi.

bdaycake2018

↑My sweet nephew brought a cake, which unfortunately I was not able to taste as we got busy after lunch. Well, I ate two of the cherries hehe.

The BF and I had dinner before my 9PM trip. We ate at Pizza Hut because it is near the terminal and there were still seats available. We were on the right side of the city, and near the window, therefore we had a glimpse of the fireworks that officially closed the Panagbenga 2018.

RM2 (03-04-2018)

The announcement? Suffice to say that someone needs to take dieting seriously and that same someone also needs to start planning for a wedding  😀  😛 .

Have a great week ahead.

2018 Week 8: Big Bad Wolf Book Sale

February 19-25, 2018

I’ve seen a lot of posts about the Big Bad Wolf Book Sale. Nainggit ako so pumunta rin ako after my shift last Tuesday. Daming books! I arrived around 2AM so medyo konti mga tao. I went straight to the Business and Economics section. Don ako medyo maraming nabili. I roamed around for 3 hours. Kung hindi lang ako antok at hindi worried na maabutan ng traffic, I would have stayed longer as in until mid-morning pa hehe. I also bought a few items from the home and garden section.

bigbadwolfbatch1

↑First batch. 12 books. Php 3,180.00. Not bad no? To think na most of these are business books and most are also hardbound. Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland is for my niece. The rest is for me.

I went for the second time last Sunday. Huling hirit. This time, I visited the Children’s section and cook book. Marami pang books don. However, I can’t think of anyone to give it to. Puro activity books na ang binigay ko sa mga pamangkin ko before. I just bought two books for my niece who likes to read. When I went to the cook book area, naku hilong talilong uli hahahahaha. I wanted them all bigla! But I had to restrain myself and just picked up a few on baking and deserts.

bigbadwolfbatch2

↑Second batch. 5 books. Php 1,460.00. Because I love desserts and because my teenager niece seem to be interested in baking. It will be a great bonding time for us. The 2 thin books at the bottom are for my other niece again. She loves to read so I’d like to encourage her more by buying books for her, which I don’t mind because eventually, mahihiram din ng future kid/s ko hehe. Yun talaga yun eh :p.

bigbadwolfbag

↑Shopping bag. Naaliw ako sa quote hehe.

I don’t know when I’ll be able to finish reading all these books. Sana mabasa ko sila in this lifetime hehehe.

I think I will…I hope actually hahaha, because last weekend, I was able to finish one. So nabawasan ang unread stash ko, even if the book I read was not one of those I bought from the book sale. Pinahiram din lang sa akin. I need to return it na so binasa ko sya haha.
