2017 Week 52: Happy Holidays!

December 25-31, 2017

Gosh, few hours left, 2 hours and 16 minutes to be exact, before we bid goodbye to 2017! I’m completing my last post for 2017 before sweeping the house and going up to my sister’s place to join them and the kids for bonfire, bbq, and roasted marshmallows while we watch the fireworks of faraway neighbors hehehe.

And so here goes.

December 25

Stayed home and prepped the house for my guest hahahaha. Went out in the afternoon to fetch my friend. She joined a Banaue-Sagada tour last weekend and they arrived in Baguio early evening of 25. She’s spending the evening at our home, hence the delayed Christmas dinner and gift giving hehehe.

↑Fiesta dinner. Wala pa dyan ang fruits and cake. Pero minsan lang yan. Hehe.

↑Kids and their gifts. Minsan din lang ito hahahaha.

December 26

Dropped by the church where BF works to introduce my friend to him hehehe. Went straight to the terminal for her afternoon trip back to Manila.

From the terminal, I went to SM to buy some gifts for the siblings.

↑Played a prank on my sister, hence her looks on the smaller pictures hihihi. I replaced the contents of the box with her daughter’s cellphone. But I gave the real contents to her after a few minutes. On second thought, I should have given it to her the next day hahahaha! Ganyan lang talaga ako. Brutal kung magmahal hahahaha!

December 27

Date night with the BF. We visited Christmas Village at the Baguio Country Club and then dinner after at Gerry’s Grill.

↑Man-made snow aka kula ng sabon hehehe.

↑Picture with the Nativity cast. Pinagtyagaan namin ang pila dyan. Mahaba. Then naabutan pa kami ng break time hehehe.

↑Dinner is served.

Stayed home the rest of the days.

December 31

Went to mass and then treated the kids later to an early lunch at Jollibee. My 2 nieces and I went around for a while but went home early afternoon because for sure, transportation will be harder in the evening. Plus, I was so sleepy I needed a nap before the bonfire session haha. And so I slept for almost 3 hours and when I woke up, wrote this post.

↑Off to mass. Mga di itsurang yagit for now hahaha!

↑Jollibee after mass. The nephew and his dad joined us.

Ok, my time’s up. The kids came here again and it’s time for a late dinner.

But before lamon, I’m off to sweep the floor first. It’s a habit that my mom has been doing through the years. It’s symbolic of “sweeping away” all the bad vibes and welcoming all the good vibes of the new year.

Happy new year! Cheers to 2018!

2017 Week 44: Baguio and Manila Errands

October 30 – November 4, 2017

October 30

My brother said he wanted to see the tiles that I was eyeing so that we can have a better estimate on how many pieces should be purchased. And so off we went back to the tile center on Monday.

We also dropped by a shop that specializes on glasses for quotations on the following: glass top for the dining table, sliding glass door to separate the shower area and toilet in the bathroom as I don’t want to use a shower curtain, glass doors for the bookshelves, and bathroom mirrors. And it’s expensive. Everything is expensive hahahaha! So, I need to prioritize which one to get first. I’m guessing it should be the sliding door hehehe but this is the most expensive of them all nyahahaha!

↑ Quotations for the sliding glass door, glass top, and book shelf door. Parang glass top lang ang mabibili ko for now hahahaha. Yung book shelf kasi, 3 na ganon ang kailangan ko eh wahahahaha. Tapos yung sliding door, ganon din talaga kamahal?! Kaloka! Pero bet ko pa rin hihihi.

Next stop was lunch at Good Taste, as always hehe.

After a super late lunch, my niece and I continued with our canvassing tasks while my brother went to the wet market to buy stuff for November 1.

My niece and I went to a furniture shop to check out customized cushion and seat cover for my simple sofa. They quoted us with almost Php 6K for the materials and service. 6K?!!!! That’s almost as good as buying a new sala set, I think. I just need the damn cushions with removable seat cover so that I can launder it once in a while. Kaloka. I tried to ask a tailoring shop if they sew cushion covers. Yes daw. I just need to provide the cloth. Php 250 per piece for the sewing service eh I only have 2 pieces because the foam I want is a rectangular one, one for the seat and one for the backrest. Hah! So off we went to shops that sell cloth. Average per yard for seat covers is at Php 200.00. Next was to check Uratex foams hehe. After computing, I’ll spend almost Php 6K for a foam, 2 sets of seat cover, and 1 queen size 3-inch Uratex foam that is good for 2 sofas. Ayan, semi-DIY na nga lang hehe. I’ll check Divisoria for the cloth.

This year, I’ll be more generous with my gifts to my young nieces, nephew and grandchildren. I’m getting them several items from their wish list which I asked them to put together. I want them to have at least 3 gifts to open on Christmas hehe. Our family is not really into gift-giving because of budget constraints. But it’s also nice to have them experience it  at home once in a while. And so before going home this day, my niece and I went to SM to start scouting for potential gifts. We were able to buy a few items so yey for that. Let me just say that it’s really more challenging to shop for boys than for girls. Or sadyang hirap lang ako dahil sa limited budget ko hahaha!

We went to McDonald’s for dinner and went home after.

October 31

I lazed around the whole morning and then I spent the rest of this day wrapping the gifts that I already bought. I used old newspapers as wrappers tutal pupunitin rin lang naman if bubuksan hehe.

November 1

Undas. We cooked a little and us siblings gathered at our parents’ home for lunch. We also lighted candles, offered prayers and flowers. No cemetery visits for us because as practiced by our elders, our loved ones who passed away are usually buried in our backyards.

For the past days that I went to town, my niece and grandchildren always watched me get ready so they were pestering me to put some make up on them too. I’m not an expert. CC cream, powder, lipstick lang naman. Minsan konting ayos ng kilay pag sinipag. Pero gusto rin daw nila so sige pagbigyan. And pictorial after hehehe.

↑ Niece.

↑ Grandchild 1

↑ Grandchild 2. We were laughing here because I asked her to crisscross her legs and she kept on almost falling hahaha!

↑ Kanya-kanyang posing na gaya-gaya rin hahaha. Same shades used on all 3 because I don’t have a make up collection ya know. Hehe.

↑ The serious nephew. Medyo wala sa mood na dito hahaha!

It was time to go back to Manila in the evening. I requested the BF to meet me at the terminal so we can spend even just an hour or 2 before I leave for Manila. We had dinner at Andoks to kill time.

I went to my colleague’s salon for a rebond. To be honest, I already want to stop it but the unruly hair can’t be tamed. Ang hirap ayusin hahaha. So let’s see again after 1.5 years hehe.

I also went to the mall to continue with my shopping. I was able to buy shoes for the nephew. Ang mahal to think na naka-sale sya huhuhu. But that is fine. There may be an event next year where he’ll need leather shoes so at least he’s ready hahaha.

I also dropped by the grocery to replenish the ref.

The end.

And done with my backlog hehe. Have a great week ahead.

2017 Week 39: Weekend in Baguio

September 25-October 1, 2017

I went home to Baguio last Friday, September 29, after shift. I did not have any specific agenda but since my friend was also in town for the weekend, we planned to meet up for some food trip. BOOM! Hehe. And so, off to food trip on Saturday.

I brought with me my nieces para mas masaya kahit ang kulit-kulit ng bulilit.

First stop. Arca’s Yard. I’ve heard about this place a long time ago but didn’t get the chance to visit it sooner hehe.

It is one of those old houses converted to a restaurant.

After lunch, we went to SM Baguio to buy some stuff and look around. My niece rode the carousel.

Our high school guidance counselor saw us and we were so surprised she still remembers our names! We had a good time exchanging stories that lasted for almost an hour.

Next pit stop for dinner was Oh My Gulay (OMG). OMG is a vegetarian restaurant and an art space in one.

We called it a night after dinner.

On Sunday, my sisters and our auntie went to visit another aunt who is sick. She has been to the ICU in September but is miraculously out, alive and kicking. She stays in bed most of the time but is still strong, can still eat and walk a bit with some assistance. Apart from the medicines, I think it’s her willpower to live that she’s still strong despite being sick.

I went back to Manila on Sunday night, after a quick dinner with the BF. He was sick and can’t stay longer so he went home right after dinner. Hay isa pa tong mamang ‘to.

↑With my bodyguards…ay dabarkads  😀

↑Selfie pa more.

↑Arca’s Cloud tea. Ang sarap! With cream and honey.

↑Pumpkin soup. A little sweet. I’ll try to make this. Mahal lang kasi ang pumpkin hahaha.

↑Pesto pasta. Yummy!

↑Longganisa meal for the kiddo. Ubos nya yan. Big gutom ang growing kid.

↑Banana split for the teenager! Ito lang talaga order nya!

↑Their famous camote pie and what’s left of it before we remembered to take a picture! Hahaha!

↑My food trip buddies.

↑Igorot gongs. I wonder how much these cost now.

↑They also have an area for these padlocks.

↑The sisters.

↑Aba, nawiwili ang isang ‘to dito ah. No na next time.

↑The one in the middle was our Guidance Counselor in High School. And she still remembers our complete names hahaha! Tinawag talaga kami sa complete names namin nung nakita kami kaloka hahaha!

↑Dinner at Oh My Gulay.

↑This is called Heneral Kabute in their menu. Sarap!

↑Super pitsy-peachy (crepe stuffed with peaches)

↑Pancit gulay ni pepe. They really have catchy names on their menu hehe.

↑We were there at night and it was quite crowded because there was an exhibit so it was hard to take pictures of the whole place.

↑Dinner buddies. The guy is my brother. Natunugang lumalamon kami somewhere so hinanap kami hahahaha. Hindi pa expert ang shy na teenager.

↑Sunday with my eldest sister, our nieces, and our grandchild. Kamusta naman ang mga lola hahahaha.

↑Maiiwan ang mga bata dahil adulting ang mga adults aka we were visiting a sick relative that day.

↑My 2 sisters and our auntie (mom’s sister). Breakfast first at Jack’s Restaurant, one of my favorite restaurants in Baguio because of its affordable meals. And no, we did not plan our color-coordinated outfits hehehe.

Naabutan na itong pang week 40 ng another weekend, hence, happy weekend hehehehe.

The end.

2017 Week 33: Weekend in Baguio

August 14-20, 2017

I went home to Baguio last weekend for some family time.

I went out on Saturday with some of my nieces for some errands which I was not able to do in Manila.

We dropped by the grocery to buy some food.

We also dropped by Ace Hardware to check out their paints. I am planning to repaint my room but I can’t decide which color is best for the long term. I’m leaning towards blue/grey/bluish grey. There are many shades. I don’t know which shade I want.

I made the mistake of painting my room with several shades of blue and green. But the multicolored room is turning out to be not the best especially for small rooms. It just feels so “busy”. I want something that has a calming effect, hence the repainting plans. Plus, it looks dirty because of the sealer they’ve used before with cracked walls. I talked to my brother about it and fortunately, he learned something from a carpenter and there’s a remedy to conceal all those unsightly patches. Whew.

It was my grandchildren’s christening last Sunday and I was one of the sponsors. It was good to be home again after more than a month. The uncles and aunties were not complete but at least other cousins still joined us.

I made a quick trip to the hangar market to buy some vegetables – Baguio beans, potatoes, zucchini, broccoli. I wanted to buy more because it’s cheaper there but it was too heavy.

The BF and I had a short “we time” aka dinner before my trip back to Manila. I opted to return earlier even though it was a holiday on Monday to get some rest.

Enjoying her ride.

Someone’s enjoying the ride. Php 35.00 for around 3 minutes.

We time

Spending some quality time at Don Henrico’s.

The end.

Have a great week ahead.

2017 Week 31: Saturday Work | Oven Shopping

July 31 – August 6, 2017

Some of us had to go to work on Saturday because we are a bit delayed with the project. There are too many findings but I’d like to already deploy the system so that it’s out of our plates. Crossing my fingers for lesser bugs this week.

My vacationing OFW niece came to Manila for some errand. Thanks to TNVS, I didn’t need to fetch her at the terminal. I just had to book and monitor to make sure that the route is towards the apartment and not somewhere else.

After mass on Sunday, we went to the mall to check out convection ovens. I just want to try to homecook my food and have some variety in food preparation. I’d like to have roasted chicken and vegetables, bake some cookies, cup cakes and baked mac and lasagna! I was with my friend and she let me promise her to make sure that I use the oven often hahahaha. Opo inay hahaha. I bought the Hanabishi 40L.

My new kitchen appliance which I MUST maximize its use hehehe.

And let me just say that I am really a noob when it comes to baking hahahha. I don’t even know which basic pans and other baking stuff I need to buy hahahaha. My friend and niece helped me put together. So I also bought a mixing bowl, muffin pan, measuring cups, and lasagna and pie glassware from Pyrex. The items from Pyrex were bundled and on sale at 30% off. I’m planning to get the other glassware from Pyrex the next time they are on sale.

We also went to Dad’s for merienda. Since I am on a no-pork this month, I had limited options of what to eat. However, I was still full by the time we were done hehehe. Ang hirap magdiet talaga.

The end.

Have a blessed week ahead.
