2017 Week 43: Eating, BDJ Event, and a Baptism

October 16-22, 2017

I am so behind in my weekly blogging. Work is still keeping me busier than usual and even though I have some time to blog, I just don’t have the energy to do it plus I don’t want to open my laptop anymore when I’m at home hehe.

And so here’s an attempt to document the past weeks.

Last October 21, a friend and I went to Malate to try out Sinsun Samgyupsal. They serve unlimitted BBQ and shabu-shabu. These have different rates. We opted to have the pork and beef BBQ. We paid Php 580.00. And there goes my first no-pork violation hahaha.

We then went to Shangri-la after and dropped by the Belle De Jour event (launch of 2018 BDJ planners). My only purpose was to buy a planner because there’s a 20% discount when you buy it at the event. There were some freebies but some weren’t already available because that was late afternoon already. We were able to get Potato Corner fries in a teeny tiny cup, and Pascual yogurt. I added the yogurt in my smoothie the next morning and it was soooo yummy.

On Sunday, October 22, I attended the baptism of my new godchild. He is a former colleague’s baby. She’s my nth godchild. I need to update my list of godchildren hehe.

Here are some pictures.

2017 Week 40: Weekend in Baguio

September 25-October 1, 2017

I went home to Baguio last Friday, September 29, after shift. I did not have any specific agenda but since my friend was also in town for the weekend, we planned to meet up for some food trip. BOOM! Hehe. And so, off to food trip on Saturday.

I brought with me my nieces para mas masaya kahit ang kulit-kulit ng bulilit.

First stop. Arca’s Yard. I’ve heard about this place a long time ago but didn’t get the chance to visit it sooner hehe.

It is one of those old houses converted to a restaurant.

After lunch, we went to SM Baguio to buy some stuff and look around. My niece rode the carousel.

Our high school guidance counselor saw us and we were so surprised she still remembers our names! We had a good time exchanging stories that lasted for almost an hour.

Next pit stop for dinner was Oh My Gulay (OMG). OMG is a vegetarian restaurant and an art space in one.

We called it a night after dinner.

On Sunday, my sisters and our auntie went to visit another aunt who is sick. She has been to the ICU in September but is miraculously out, alive and kicking. She stays in bed most of the time but is still strong, can still eat and walk a bit with some assistance. Apart from the medicines, I think it’s her willpower to live that she’s still strong despite being sick.

I went back to Manila on Sunday night, after a quick dinner with the BF. He was sick and can’t stay longer so he went home right after dinner. Hay isa pa tong mamang ‘to.

Pictures!

↑With my bodyguards…ay dabarkads  😀

↑Selfie pa more.

↑Arca’s Cloud tea. Ang sarap! With cream and honey.

↑Pumpkin soup. A little sweet. I’ll try to make this. Mahal lang kasi ang pumpkin hahaha.

↑Pesto pasta. Yummy!

↑Banana split for the teenager! Ito lang talaga order nya!

↑The one in the middle was our Guidance Counselor in High School. And she still remembers our complete names hahaha! Tinawag talaga kami sa complete names namin nung nakita kami kaloka hahaha!

↑Dinner buddies. The guy is my brother. Natunugang lumalamon kami somewhere so hinanap kami hahahaha. Hindi pa expert ang shy na teenager.

↑Sunday with my eldest sister, our nieces, and our grandchild. Kamusta naman ang mga lola hahahaha.

IMG_20171001_085215

↑Maiiwan ang mga bata dahil adulting ang mga adults aka we were visiting a sick relative that day.

↑My 2 sisters and our auntie (mom’s sister). Breakfast first at Jack’s Restaurant, one of my favorite restaurants in Baguio because of its affordable meals. And no, we did not plan our color-coordinated outfits hehehe.

Naabutan na itong pang week 40 ng another weekend, hence, happy weekend hehehehe.

The end.

2107 Week 38: UAT Done | Rare Night Out With Friends

September 11-17, 2017

Testing is completed and we’re off to implementation. This is such a relief after all that we had to deal with at the start of the project. Whew!

I went to BDO last Monday because I received a text saying that my ATM was blocked because I may have used it in a compromised machine. My ATM card had to be replaced. Buti na lang free. But I will only get the replacement card after 5 banking days. Ang tagal. Parang 3 days lang ito  dati ah. Tsk. I also had to update my information by filling up forms. Required by BSP raw yun.

I met with 2 of my closest friends at work last Saturday. We used to go out frequently when we were younger. But so seldom these days hahahaha. All of us just prefer to stay home and spend time with our ow selves hehehe. Ganyan talaga siguro pag tumatanda nyahahahaha.

We went to Green Pastures at Shangri-la for dinner. It’s a farm to table type of restaurant. I ordered their ultimate lasagna. This is made of 3 cheese, roasted carrot puree and vegan mushrooms. It doesn’t have meat but still tasty and heavy.

I was also able to taste their caesar kale salad and garlic soup. Both are good. Average price per person is around Php 700.00. Medyo expensive lang hehe.

We transferred to Starbucks for coffee (and tea for me) because we need more time of catching up hehe. We called it a night at almost 1 AM. Bitin pa pero inaantok na kaming lahat hahaha.

I just stayed at home on Sunday and binge watched in Netflix. Taking advantage while it’s still free! Hahaha.

No weekend cooking since I still have some leftover which I think is enough this week. Sana.

The end.

Have a great week ahead.

2017 Week 36: Long Weekend | The OWF Niece is Back to Work

August 28 – September 3, 2017

Hello September!

And what better way to welcome the month than through a bonus holiday for September 1 hehehehe. Adulting is hard sometimes so these non-working holidays are helpful in easing some of the work stress away whew.

Anyway, the OWF niece who came home last June 30 is now back in the Middle East. The last 2 months have gone by quickly but as I always say to her, we need to make some sacrifices if we want a better future. Working for 2 years is long to be away from her daughter but it’s also unfortunately not enough to save much so that she can stay here for good. She just needs to focus on her goals and she’ll be home for good eventually.

Anyway, last Monday, which was also a holiday was spent cooking food for packed lunch and dinner this week.

The rest of the work days are hectic and it’s really sapping my energy so I was so glad for the other holiday last Friday, where I just stayed at home watching movies (aka 3 movies), while waiting for the time when my niece had to leave for the airport.

Last Saturday was spent in the grocery and cooking food for this week’s meals. I’m slowly getting used to this weekend activity hehe.

I went to the mall last Sunday after mass for lunch and a few hours of window shopping. I went home after to rest more. I also spent a few hour researching for bedroom colors, bathroom designs and home office designs. It’s confusing and it’s challenging the non-interior designer in me hahaha.

By the way, last Thursday, I received a text from BDO that my ATM was blocked because it might have been used in compromised ATMs. I need to sort that out this week. I have already used the few hundreds in my wallet hehe.

Lastly, I started another segment in this blog – the Grocery Expenses. This will only include all expenses related to the groceries I need for my packed meals. This is so I will have a better idea on how much I really need to budget for these meals. It’s only now that I’m bringing packed meals to work so I really don’t know.

The end.

Have a great week ahead.

Yellow Cab meal

What Sunday lunch was like. Yellow Cab’s MyMix. All my favorites in one box at Php 195.00, cheaper than when you need to get whole orders of each hehe.

2017 Week 34: Weekend in Baguio

August 14-20, 2017

I went home to Baguio last weekend for some family time.

I went out on Saturday with some of my nieces for some errands which I was not able to do in Manila.

We dropped by the grocery to buy some food.

We also dropped by Ace Hardware to check out their paints. I am planning to repaint my room but I can’t decide which color is best for the long term. I’m leaning towards blue/grey/bluish grey. There are many shades. I don’t know which shade I want.

I made the mistake of painting my room with several shades of blue and green. But the multicolored room is turning out to be not the best especially for small rooms. It just feels so “busy”. I want something that has a calming effect, hence the repainting plans. Plus, it looks dirty because of the sealer they’ve used before with cracked walls. I talked to my brother about it and fortunately, he learned something from a carpenter and there’s a remedy to conceal all those unsightly patches. Whew.

It was my grandchildren’s christening last Sunday and I was one of the sponsors. It was good to be home again after more than a month. The uncles and aunties were not complete but at least other cousins still joined us.

I made a quick trip to the hangar market to buy some vegetables – Baguio beans, potatoes, zucchini, broccoli. I wanted to buy more because it’s cheaper there but it was too heavy.

The BF and I had a short “we time” aka dinner before my trip back to Manila. I opted to return earlier even though it was a holiday on Monday to get some rest.

Enjoying her ride.

Someone’s enjoying the ride. Php 35.00 for around 3 minutes.

We time

Spending some quality time at Don Henrico’s.

The end.

Have a great week ahead.
