2017 Week 25: What’s Up?

June 19-25, 2017

I am writing this almost end of this work week so I’m trying my best to remember any significant things that happened last week.

I only remember that I was and still am having a hard time juggling between 2 projects plus I am involving myself in another one because that other project is dependent on my expertise – our HR systems, and I want all requirements to be aligned with HR policies, processes and available data. OC much.

Ok, I also remember that we had vendor proof of concepts last June 21 and 22. We had it in different sites and I had a hard time focusing on my other tasks because I was not in my workstation.

I remember that my top choice of vendor since after the discovery sessions was still the same. However, they are the most expensive. Darn! Lower! Lower! Lower!

I remember saying hi to a friend via a friend’s post and it prompted her to invite me to her place for a short meet up. Another friend saw that post and requested for a breakfast meet up and so I ended up sleeping over at my friend’s place so that the other friend and I can see each other too. No regrets because our breakfast turned out to be a fellowship of sorts and reassuring one another that God is in control no matter how unpleasant our experiences are at the moment and that it is alright to ask God all sorts of questions, including those questions which to us look irrelevant but still bothers us.

I remember an unpleasant experience with the Uber driver last Friday and I have yet to report it…

I remember bumming for sometime over the weekend but also went back to my week 3 assignments for the online training I currently have.

I remember buying another domainmylenelucando.com for my online portfolio but now seriously thinking about using this as well for my blog. No final decision yet. I’ll decide once I finish the last set of videos in my training. It’s the perfect timing because my other domain is about to expire in less than a month. I’m not sure why I’m having a hard time deciding about this hahaha.

I remember sharing snippets of my love story to 2 teammates. It was awkward at first because I am a private person but it was fun after hehehe.

Those are all I remember last week. And now, it’s almost the weekend again.

Happy Friday!

2017 Week 21: Vendor Sessions | Movies

May 22-28, 2017

Work

One of the projects I’m working on requires a vendor. Last week, we were able to meet with all the vendors for their discovery sessions. It was a brain draining activity but it it also interesting to see how the different vendors showcase their solutions.

Like for one vendor, I was hesitant to shortlist them at first because aside from being expensive , I think their product won’t fit all of our requirements. However, after a second session with them, I changed my mind. Of all the solutions we saw, theirs might be the most robust and configurable, well at least based on how they answered our questions.

There was another vendor who I want to drop from the list early on but the boss of the boss said to still invite them. Ayun, I’m still not convinced, and even the stakeholders did not feel confident about them.

Because of these activities, meetings were held at the stakeholders’ offices, depending on where they’ll be reporting that day. And so on Thursday, we found ourselves traveling all the way to Alabang Town Center. My oh my, I love the place! The roads leading to the building were lined with trees!

But of course I don’t want to report there on a daily basis because for sure, commuting will be a challenge. We booked Uber (thanks, boss!) and our fare was Php 555.00, inclusive of toll fee. Imagine, more expensive than a 1-way fare to Baguio hahaha! So, no. Sana hindi kami ilipat doon.

I was also in Worldwide Corporate Center on Wednesday and Friday. I had dinner at Coffee Project. The place has pretty decors. I’m not just sure how I feel about the fake flowers hehehe.

I ordered sardines pasta and I think caramel vanilla frappuccino (I think). The pasta is good but I think it’s expensive at Php 180.00. The serving though is bigger than the usual single orders in other restaurants.

Dinner is served. Yum.

Daming ganap last week.

Weekend

Because I wanted to relax a bit, I checked with my friend if she wanted to watch a movie. She said yes so we met at Megamall in the evening. We watched Dear Other Self and Pirates of the Caribbean.

While I like Jodi, I think the story did not depict a true-blue travel blogger hahaha. Basta medyo ilang beses kaming napa-comment ng “Akala ko ba travel blogger sya?” Hehehe. But we were there for entertainment so we got it.

We watched the Pirates at the Director’s Club. Yes, those with reclining seats. And yes, ubusan ng allowance ito hahaha. But we enjoyed nonetheless so dildil asin na lang to compensate hahaha. I thought I was going to sleep because of the comfy chairs but the movie kept me awake until the end. At least di nasayang binayad ko hahaha.

The rest of the weekend was spent doing the usual household chores.

The end.

Have a great week ahead.

2017 Week 19: Friday Night Out | Shopping

May 8-14, 2017

Happy Mother’s Day to our mother angel in heaven.

We had an issue last week so it was another long and stressful Monday-Tuesday.

The other project I’m handling needs to be delivered ASAP and so we need to engage and choose vendors as quickly as we can.

Last Friday, I was asked to represent our team in one of the recruitment events tomorrow. So instead of being chillax on Friday, I was jittery and nervous and nauseous hahaha. Therefore, I asked a friend that we go out for a drink after shift on Friday.

We went to The Black Boar in Kapitolyo Pasig because I wanted to try the chocolate beer but it was not available that night. Hayayay. We settled with beers, fries and chicken wings.

Saturday was for household chores. I met with another friend in the evening to shop for a more corporate looking clothes heh.

On Sunday, another friend and I met in late afternoon for mass and some more window shopping. Plus she was buying a heavy item so she needs help in carrying it. We also had dinner  at Pepper Lunch before heading home.

The end.

Have a great week ahead.

P.S. Dear Lord, please help me get through this week especially with all the stuff that needs to be done at work. Thank you.

2017 Week 17: Another Long Weekend Spent in Baguio

April 24-30, 2017

It’s May already, the 5th month of the year. It feels like 2017 just rolled in yesterday. Days are going by so fast. Which reminds me, I should start planning in the coming months. I don’t want to be stressed when 2018 comes.

It’s also the last day of the holiday. Long weekend over in a few hours and I would have to go back to the daily grind. But that’s ok. We need to adult too hehe.

The kids are here playing. Maybe it’s because I don’t have a TV and they have no other way of entertaining themselves other than play, or that they really just love playing. I believe it’s the later.I hear their made up stories, from role playing where there is a mommy and sisters to zombies to anything else under the sun.I also hear them speak in Filipino sometimes. It’s good that they practice Filipino because they were raised speaking in Ilocano.

I occasionally butt in to correct their grammar and/or pronunciation or teach them some manners. With their own noise, most of the time, I need to shout so that they can hear me hehehehe.

It’s fascinating how kids are. They have so much imagination. They quarrel but after a few minutes, they are playing again. Their innocence is so refreshing.

Anyway, going back to the recap.

Work is work is work. I don’t have anything else to say hahaha.

As for the long weekend, I went out daily for several reasons. I went out with a friend on Friday to chill around Baguio. I went out with my tita and cousin on Saturday too.

On Sunday, I stayed home except for the time I went to mass. I saw my childhood friend in church. They offered me a ride to town after the mass. I went to Good Taste for some take out. Why take out? My brother went somewhere so there’s no one to cook and I’ll still be home until at least lunch time today. I need food to survive hahahahaha. Plus, tamad akong kumilos dito.

Ok, so all I really did during the long weekend was eat, eat, eat! I will make up for it when I go back to Manila. Crossing my fingers on that.

I was contemplating on going back to Manila last night, but just thinking about the hot summer made me change my mind right away hehehehe.

The end.

Have a productive week ahead.

Going Around Baguio: Day 1

Lakwatsa date: April 28, 2017

My friend and I did some touristy stuff, mainly food trip, around Baguio. Our initial target was those away from the city but we were not ready with a list and it was already lunch time when we met in town so we just chose random restaurants and cafes.

Our pit stops:

*** Sizzling Plate for lunch

Fillet Mignon – between Php 230.00-250.00. We also ordered the Php 25.00 sansrival, but not in the picture.

*** Orchidarium near Burnham Park to check out all the beautiful flowers! I’m excited to start my own flower, herb and bonsai garden hehehe. No pictures as we were busy admiring and trying to name the flowers. Plus, some shops don’t allow picture taking or they do but with a Php 10.00 fee.

*** Camp John Hay. We wanted something cold and then we remembered John Hay so off to John Hay we went.

*** Checked out the overruns shops but we still find the items expensive and not really sure if overruns or class A.

*** Stopped by Little John for snacks.

Fresh mango and strawberry fruit shakes and potato wedges with bacon bits.

*** We were craving for some cakes so we walked up one of the hilly parts to look for Ayala Techno hub.

Enjoying the breezy climate while walking the challenging steps going up hehehe. Hingal much.

Trying to capture the sunset. And I didn’t notice the moon was also up there!

End of life. This may be a typhoon casualty.

*** Everything Nice at Ayala Techno hub

Carrot cake and Italian cheesecake. Prices around Php 90.00 to 110.00.

*** We also saw Pizza Volante still at Ayala Techno hub and can’t resist their pizza!

Both vegetarian pizza. Less than Php 100.00 for solo (6 inches).

*** Last for the night was Cafe by the Ruins Dua near the Victory Liner FVR terminal.

Bounty salad. We loved everything except the watercress because of the slight bitter taste. I still want my watercress sauteed in garlic.

Let me just add the cucumber lemonade we had at Good Taste today. I love the taste. However, I learned from one of servers that it’s a powdered juice. Still artificial pala. But it’s refreshing still!

Cucumber lemonade

Until our next food trip hehehe. Next time, we’ll really target the once we haven’t tried yet.
