2017 Week 38: A Grateful Heart

September 18-24, 2017

Last week, Friday to be exact, was a very happy one! Some of us attended a company event last Friday. This has been a yearly event for about 5-6 years now. I am not fond of attending events like this but I know I NEED to attend so off I went. Who would have thought that last Friday would be very different from the previous events.

Why? Here’s my long list of the happy moments just for that day!

  • Getting made up by a friend for the Friday grind. She volunteered to do my and another friend’s make up for the event. There’s no need actually, but for a change, I graciously accepted when she volunteered hehehe.
  • Spending time with some team members and friends
  • Listening to the executives’ speeches
  • Seeing our projects in the big screens
  • Giving our best shot at the big idea competition. We did not win but that’s fine.
  • Free hotel food.
  • Bluetooth speaker as a freebie.
  • Meeting some colleagues in person after months of talking to them on the phone.
  • After party where I tried 3 different drinks hehehehe
  • Our boss’s pendulum and hele moment. Not once but twice!!! This was so hilarious! 😀  😀  😀
  • Learning from the team that our post implementation testers have finally signed off because all bugs have been addressed. Whew!
  • Getting a box of Ferrero chocolates hidden under the chair I sat on! It’s yours if you found it. I shared this with the team who were left on their own last Friday to continue the implementation hehehe.
  • Winning an iPhone X which I’ll be able to get once these gadgets land in PH. Yes, I won a major price!!!!!! After years of not being lucky in raffles, I won. I really won this time!  😀  😀  😀
  • But the best of them all?! Getting  a hug and a kiss from Papa Mike (VP of APAC, my crush since nene days hahahahaha) when I went on stage for the obligatory photo op for winning the iPhone. Jeskelord! Waaaahhhhhh!!!  😛   😀

I still cannot believe it. I spent most of last weekend reliving all the events last Friday hahahahaha! Haaayyyyy! TYL!

Freebie and a surprise gift

Project

And the winner is...

↑This was the moment he said that the winner was from our team and there I was, still busy taking the best shot of him on screen. Moments later, I heard him say my name! I won!!!!  😀  😀  😀

It was so timely that the sermon last Sunday was about grace moments. Pag na-experience daw natin yun, unang-una, natutulala tayo because it is so unexpected. It is God working. We just “created” the environment for it to happen. Ganyang-ganyan nga ang na-experience ko last Friday. Grace moment. Na of course, hindi ko ma-eexperience IF hindi ako nagpunta!

The end.

Have a great week ahead.

2017 Week 33: Weekend in Baguio

August 14-20, 2017

I went home to Baguio last weekend for some family time.

I went out on Saturday with some of my nieces for some errands which I was not able to do in Manila.

We dropped by the grocery to buy some food.

We also dropped by Ace Hardware to check out their paints. I am planning to repaint my room but I can’t decide which color is best for the long term. I’m leaning towards blue/grey/bluish grey. There are many shades. I don’t know which shade I want.

I made the mistake of painting my room with several shades of blue and green. But the multicolored room is turning out to be not the best especially for small rooms. It just feels so “busy”. I want something that has a calming effect, hence the repainting plans. Plus, it looks dirty because of the sealer they’ve used before with cracked walls. I talked to my brother about it and fortunately, he learned something from a carpenter and there’s a remedy to conceal all those unsightly patches. Whew.

It was my grandchildren’s christening last Sunday and I was one of the sponsors. It was good to be home again after more than a month. The uncles and aunties were not complete but at least other cousins still joined us.

I made a quick trip to the hangar market to buy some vegetables – Baguio beans, potatoes, zucchini, broccoli. I wanted to buy more because it’s cheaper there but it was too heavy.

The BF and I had a short “we time” aka dinner before my trip back to Manila. I opted to return earlier even though it was a holiday on Monday to get some rest.

Enjoying her ride.

Someone’s enjoying the ride. Php 35.00 for around 3 minutes.

We time

Spending some quality time at Don Henrico’s.

The end.

Have a great week ahead.

2017 Week 29: Losses | Unexpected Blessing | Weekend Malling

July 17-23, 2017

I received 3 news of deaths last week. One was my elementary classmate. We (his batchmates) have no idea until now what happened. We just learned of the news after his burial. He attended another classmate’s despidida last April. He left a few minutes after we arrived. I’m not sure if I’m thankful for that or what. Well at least I think the last time that we met years and years ago was for a happy occasion.

The other one is the death of a father’s high school friend. It was unexpected. I think I have met him several times because he would sometimes pick up my friend in school.

The third is the father of a college friend. He has been sick and been in the hospital since early July. I wish I learned earlier so that I could have visited.

I asked my niece to be the one to meet these friends to hand over a little help. Good thing she was able to talk to both friends. If there is one thing I learned from losing my own parents, it’s that all the condolences, hugs, and prayers matter a lot to the grieving family. If you cannot be there physically, a simple private message is still a big help.

To my friend and uncles, may you all Rest In Peace. Please continue guiding and protecting the family you left behind.

On to happier things.

I was surprised when my boss had some papers for me to sign last Monday. Weeee. Alam na this! I was not expecting it. Nothing big but still appreciated. Two-thirds will go to investments and the one-third will be for wants or project BD.

Weekend

A friend and I spent Saturday at the mall. We had lunch at Tenka. We were able to avail of the discounted rate from Metro Deal. We love the food but we have never been satisfied with Tenka’s slow service, missed orders plus the staff’s mood. It looks like everyone is already tired to think that they just opened for the day. It was still a happy lunch though.

TenkaHotpot

Hotpot anyone? Combination of meat, cheese balls, lobster balls, tofu and more.

TenkaDessert

Yummy dessert in a cute saucer!

We also dropped by the kido-preneur show at the Glorietta activity center. It was fun to see all the kids selling their stuff. I’ll have my future kids participate in activities like this too. We did not stay long though and we were not able to buy anything because the kids were selling mostly food and we were really still full from lunch.

We watched Kita Kita. The movie is not your regular rom-com but I still enjoyed it. I got scared because I learned from the movie that stress can cause temporary blindness. Ok, I need to really train myself not to get stressed easily on so many things. It made me want to go back to Japan and explore its other parts especially its natural resources. Also, I’m sure Sapporo beer sales went up recently hahahaha. A friend bought one to try it. Another friend in FB posted one too hehehehe.

Sunday was pamper myself day after mass. The only planned thing I was not able to do was get a hair cut. The salon was full of clients and I did not want to wait. Maybe this weekend when I can go there earlier.

The end.

Hope you are all having a blessed week.

Peace,

Mylene

2017 Week 28: We Have a Vendor

July 10-16, 2017

Work

Last week’s highlight was that we have already selected a vendor. We were all aligned with who we want. The next step to hurdle now is budget. They are expensive but their product makes the most sense. I hope our Purchasing team can lower down the cost. Seriously, their professional services are insane. Hoping for the best.

The other project is on its final stages of development. I am amazed by the new hires. They really work fast. I now have to work double time for my test scripts so that we can start testing in advance.

Others

It’s two years and counting for us last July 13. I am forever grateful that we are able to reach this milestone. Maybe we’ll just have a nice lunch or dinner in August. We’ll see. What’s more important for us is that we are enjoying the ride, we are able to overcome the occasional bumps, and that we still want to be together. Bow.

My weekend was uneventful. I just stayed home. Sleep and games took over all my waking time. Tsk tsk tsk. So today, I’m getting back to working on the last batch of my assignments.

The end.

Hope you all have a great and blessed week ahead.

Our (2017) Second Anniversary

*** Semi-cheese alert. Read at your own risk. 😛 😀  ***

It was 2 years ago today when we became BF-GF. While there are dramas once in a blue moon, it’s generally peaceful and I am forever thankful for that.

While we live in different cities and are not together often (in fact, we are away more than we are together in a year), we make sure to text each other everyday. If not, I don’t stop bugging him about it until he gets annoyed hahaha.

While it is a challenge to arrange date nights with him because of our conflicting work schedules, it’s what makes our few date nights more special. This was hard for me at first but it’s pointless to be sulking every time I’m disappointed because I realized that when you are in a relationship, you just don’t turn your back every time you don’t like what’s happening. You must strive to work on it. And working on it is a tiring process especially if at the end of the day, you still love him anyway and still want to be with him. Eventually, I learned to not fret too much about it. And when I did, it’s as if we signed into an unwritten and invisible agreement wherein every time I’m in Baguio and he’s not busy with work, it is a MUST that we have some “us time” even if it only means him accompanying me to the terminal and spending the remaining minutes in one of the food stalls before I board the bus. Heh.

Conflicting schedules? His day off is Mondays only while mine is on weekends. And so every time I go home, there really isn’t much time for us since he has work. Plus, I don’t go home often because it’s just too tiring to be travelling often. Imagine being on the bus all weekends? I can’t, well at least now that I’m older hahahaha. Aging…pffft!

While only a few people know about us, we are not bothered and we actually want this setup. We got together late in our lives so we want to work on strengthening our relationship first. I fear that it will become complicated if too many people are involved. And I’m glad that these few people who know about us are cheering for us too. A lot of them already volunteered to be our godparents on our wedding. Oooppps. Kung maka-pressure naman ang mga ito hahaha!

While I know that I will not fully get to know him in this lifetime, he has been consistently patient with me and my bouts of bitchiness, hence we’re still together now. And I thank God for that! Hahaha!

While it has not happened yet, the end goal is to be married to each other in the future. I check with him maybe once every quarter. Yes, I do that. For me, I don’t want to waste my time and effort (and his as well) if both of us are not aligned on where we want to be someday.

We are not perfect and our relationship is not perfect. But as long as we still both want to be together, and as long as this is God’s plan for us (which I know in my heart it is), then we will be ok no matter what. Looking forward to the days ahead.

********
To my honey:

You are God’s greatest gift which He gave to me after losing both my parents. The timing couldn’t be more perfect.I thank God everyday for the gift of you.
Thank you for your patience.
Thank you for not being afraid of calling me out when I am out of line.
Thank you for arguing with me gently, and not just agreeing to everything I say just so I stop nagging you.
Thank you because there was no need to change much just to fit into your requirements of a relationship. Your requirements were really just simple – to love you and those you love. I hope I am fulfilling that.
Thank you because I still get to enjoy the same freedom I was enjoying when I was not yet in a relationship.
Thank you for everything that you’ve done for this relationship.
But can we have at least out of town trip please? Kasi o, ang pictures natin, yung mga puro lang tayo kumakain. Isipin mo, yun lang ang laman ng video natin sa wedding talaga?! Hahahaha! Joke! But you know that jokes are half-meant, right? Right?! 😀  😀  😀
Seriously, thank you for for being you. I love you!

********

Re-posting some of our pictures in sequential order as I remember it haha.  😛

Palaparan ng mukha, pasingkitan ng mata :p

I asked him to take our selfie/groufie…whatever. Sya dapat para mas malayo ako sa camera hahaha! Basa nyo nakasulat sa shirt ko? Yan talaga ang ramdam ko especially kahapon.

Spending quality time together over a few bottles of beer :p. See those frozen glasses? Pareho kaming napa-wow hahaha. Yes, first time namin makakita ng ganon :p.

Christmas 2016. Pardon the other hand. Nasa harap namin ang pulutan hehehe.

Some solos and the obligatory couple pic 😛

Ok. Ganito kasi yun. Reklamo sya ng reklamo tuwing pinapakuha ko ng picture kasi nakakahiya daw pero pag hawak na nya ang camera, trigger happy naman. Ako na yung nagpapahinto sa kanya. Hmp! Arti :p

Peace yo!

Birthday cake. If we’ll have this again next year, I’ll ask the staff to put a date or at least the current year hehehe.

Dinner at Good Taste. This was the only picture we had that night because we were discussing serious matters aka future plans. And no, we did not plan on wearing blue at the same time. Lastly, we did not eat everything. There were a lot of leftovers for take out. 😛 😛 😛

Matic na sa kanya to take pictures of us bago pa ako magrequest hehehe.

And I realized that I only started posting our pictures in 2016. Waley pala masyado nung 2015. Kebs na haha. More pictures to come pa rin Hihihi.
