2017 Week 2: Back to the Daily Grind

January 2-8, 2017

Ok, so the holidays are over and so we’re back to the daily grind.

I traveled back to Manila on January 2. Thank you, Lord for a safe trip that night.

Work was just picking up from what we all left when most of us went for that much needed break on the last week of December.

I met with my friend’s family on January 3. They are based in SG now and are here for a visit. We ate at Gangnam Wings at SM Megamall. The store is located at the strip, Mega A side. It specializes on Korean fried chicken.

Our orders:

gangnam2

Fried chicken. I liked the chicken. It’s crispy but not too oily.

gangnam3

Spicy seafood noodle but we requested a less spicy version.

gangnam1

Watermelon with soju. This was refreshing. Good thing they did not mix the soju so we had control on the amount of alcohol to add to the watermelon hehe.

gangnam4

Rock melon bingsu. Fresh fruit and ice cream. Winner!

Weekend

My friend and I met up on Saturday to catch up on some of the MMFF movies. We watched Die Beautiful, Vince & Kath & James and Sunday Beauty Queen.

Paulo Ballesteros (Die Beautiful) would have been beautiful if he was a woman hehehe.

Vince & Kath & James was really for teens hahaha! It was also ok though. We enjoyed laughing at the crowd’s reactions. There were 2 groups who were quite loud. One is obviously rooting for Vince and the other one for James. While it can get irritating at times, we just had fun laughing at them because their reactions to some of the scenes can really be hilarious hehehe.

The most touching movie for me was Sunday Beauty Queen. This is a documentary about OFWs in Hong Kong. I have seen again that life is not really fair and it gets tough and tougher for some of us. Hence, we should always be thankful for all of our blessings, no matter how small these are.

I went to mass on Sunday and then to the mall as I need to replace some blouses and I was hoping to score some from the end of season sale. Mission accomplished as I was able to buy 3 blouses, which was my goal.

Next stop was the grocery for some supplies before going home.

The end.

Have a great week ahead.

2016 Week 34 Recap: Issues, Movies, Food Trips

August 15-21, 2016

Work

Ay yay yay! Let me just say that this is taking most of my time right now, including holidays and weekends. For instance, I had to work on Friday, which was a holiday in Quezon City, and ended on Saturday morning and just slept the whole day of Saturday.

But, of course this too, shall pass. Everything will settle down as the users become familiar with the new systems and all bugs are addressed. Tuloy lang.

Weekend

This is more interesting haha.

Since our office is in Quezon City and August 19 was Quezon Day, our weekend technically started earlier. I took the opportunity to visit a dentist on Friday. I found my dentist and I liked her service so far. Now, no need to go to the mall and have whoever is available. I had oral prophylaxis and tooth filling. She mentioned that there’s a maximum service per visit as required by our HMO provider (I think 5, and I didn’t know this) but she said no need for additional fees. She said it can all be covered by our provider. Cool! Thank you, employer.

Incidentally, I mentioned about it to my boss and she said she was her dentist when our health card was Medicard and she was happy to know that she (dentist) is also affiliated with Intellicare. Knowing my boss’ standards, I now know I’m in good hands. The dentist is Dr. Nenette Dolatre and their clinic (Dolatre-Abellon) is at Broadway Centrum, Quezon City. They are a family of dentists, based on the certificates I saw posted in their clinic.

After my dental appointment, I dropped by Shang for lunch. I tried L&L Hawaiian Barbecue. I’m not really impressed with the BBQ pork I ordered but maybe it was because my teeth was still painful while I was eating. But more than that, I did not like how the staff took my order. I was at the cashier looking for someone to talk to and the guy inside the kitchen asked me what my order was and just pointing at the menu. At nakapangalumbaba lang. Ano naman yun? Then there was just one customer other than me to think that it was peak hours at around 12:30 PM.

I slept all through Saturday because I was up all night until Saturday morning resolving an issue. But I was able to watch Always Woodstock when I woke up by early evening. It’s comedy, music and romance. It’s relatable (at least to me) because there’s always my hometown to go home to for good, anytime I wish to.

Sunday was day with friends. But first, mass of course. We went to Uptown mall for food trip and movie. Yes, food trip talaga.

IMG_3809

Looks like Uptown Mall has “wood” as one of their themes

We had lunch at Fely J’s. Hay, everything’s so yummy. I liked all the food we ordered. I think the price is right for the serving which is usually good for 2-3 pax.

Our orders: sisig rice, Gule Magalang (was not able to taste this because it has alamang which always upsets my stomach), Lola Ising’s adobo (winner ‘to!), Utan Ilonggo soup (just vegetables, shrimp, and clams but still so good!).

IMG_3854

Across Fely J’s was Paper Moon. I always wanted to try this and good thing my friend wanted it too so we went there for dessert. Each of us ordered different flavors of crepe cake so that we can taste more than one hehehe. Masarap naman and good with coffee as per my friends who also ordered coffee. Medyo namahalan lang ako. Php 225.00 per slice. Mahal ‘no?

IMG_3817

Mango, Matcha and classic crepe

We watched The Shallows after lunch. I was hesitant to watch this at first because I really don’t like horror and movies that catch me by surprise. Nakakapraning kasi hahaha. But my friends said mild lang naman daw so go lang. And it was ok. The lead girl’s surfing skills was awesome.

We dropped by La Lola after the movie to try the churros. Sagad na. We ordered the ultimate mixed which has the classic, dark chocolate, matcha, white chocolate, and butterscotch flavors. I loved the white chocolate and butterscotch! And yes, food trip talaga ito. We tasted each flavor and kept the rest for later. Pwede na pang-breakfast bukas hehehe.

lalolachurros

Hello there :p

Since it was still early, we went to McKinley Hill to check out Venice Grand Canal. Picture picture. There were a lot of people! It was hard to get a decent shot. We just walked around the canal. There were also gondola rides. But it was Php 500 per head!!! Why that expensive? Ok, I’ll just reserve that gondola ride for Venice, Italy :).

IMG_3822

At one end of the canal. There’s the gondola. The guides are singing daw but I can’t hear them hehe.

IMG_3846

Art in one of the restaurants

IMG_3850

At the other end. They just turned on the lights at the lamp post. I think this will also be a spectacular view at dusk.

We called it a day after. Thanks, Uber, for the Php 100 off for our ride today. Appreciate it!

And here I am now, blogging about this week and turning in for the night earlier than usual hehehe.

Hope you all have a great week ahead.

P.S. 1: Dear issues at work, please cooperate and let us all be chill so that everybody happy. Medyo naha-hype na kasi kayo eh. Abot hanggang kataas-taasan kasi naman kung maka-react mga tao, parang end of the world na. Naiintindihan ko naman where they are coming from, but please, no need to panic. Birth pains lang to, plus change is good too. 🙂

P.S. 2: Dear universe, I really really really want the Adiddas Superstar white with gold stripes. San ba may available non? All stores I checked out said out of stock daw. Promise, I’ll use extra money to buy it. No utang :).

2016 Week 32 Recap: Be Focused

August 1-7, 2016

Hello, ghost month!

Work

The new systems went live yesterday! Finally! Last week was all about deployments still. I cleared my schedule this weekend just to stay home in case there will be issues. Thank God, there were none, just the common issues where employees cannot login. The core team plus representatives from other departments who helped us had a quick call last night just to ensure that everything that needs to be done has been done and everyone is clear about what they are going to do in case there are issues. I am happy to say that everyone knows what they are supposed to do when things don’t happen as expected.

While there were moments that I’m really pissed with other people’s work attitude, I don’t dwell on it too much. I always remind myself na ako ang lugi kasi malay ba nyang nayayamot na ako sa kanya di ba. Anyway, like I always say to a colleague, pag nanggago man yan, dadalhin nya yan sa kanyang konsensya sa buong buhay nya. Makakalimutan man nya most of the time pero susundot-sundot pa rin yan sa kanya from time to time. So I’m chill :p.

We still have one round of implementation on Tuesday. It will be a veerrrry long night and day but we can do this. Yep, we are on night shift and estimated completion will be after 18 hours. We can’t stop because we can’t have the systems down for too long. Idadaan na lang sa kape hahaha. Plus, nakahirit naman na ako ng food budget kay boss. Ok sa alright na hehehe.

Weekend

Since I am on self-imposed house arrest, I used some time to rearrange the house. Achieve naman pero parang walang nagbago since pinag-interchange ko lang yung work table ko with the book shelf hehe. Pero that’s fine for now. Wala rin talaga akong talent sa interior designing/decorating eh. Di ko rin kasi alam kung anong gusto kong theme hahaha.

I also decluttered my work table and threw everything that I haven’t used in a while. At marami pa rin akong tinapon to think na nagdeclutter na ako before. Kaloka lang. Those that I think my nieces can still use will be brought home.

I’m not yet done with decluttering but I’ll do that one step at a time until I have trimmed down to the things that I really often use.

In between cleaning, I also played some games and watched some movies, one of which was Princess Cut. It was a movie released in 2015. It’s about finding Mr. Right in God’s chosen perfect time despite experiencing heartbreaks, confusions and uncertainties in the process. I want my future daughter to watch that.

That’s it pancit! Have a great week ahead.

2016 Week 27 Recap: Hello Japan!

June 27 – July 3, 2016

Work

Work muna.

Deployment series starts week after next week! While there are still items to close and while final decision of executives will happen next week, we are positive that that meeting will just be all formalities and it will still be a go. I made sure all pre-deployment requirements are in place bago ako nagfile ng bonggang 1 week leave next week para di na makapag-no si boss hehehehe.

Oh, I was also nominated by my boss for a raise! She had me signed the papers last Friday. First payout will be end of July. Maliit lang pero a raise is still a raise especially after years of not getting one because of conservative spending. Pwede nang pandagdag ipon yun.

Travel

We are leaving for Japan later!!!!! Now, the excitement is building up. To be honest, I was not really excited at first when our visas got approved because I was anticipating conflicts with work. However, some of the big bosses were on leave the past week, therefore our project manager had to move the go/no go meeting next week. And while waiting for their final decision, we cannot really go all out with the implementation. Ang galing lang talaga. The universe conspired and everything aligned hehehe. Thank you, Lord.

However, ayun lang. I don’t know our exact itinerary. Di ko alam gagawin namin. Di na kami nakapagmeet ng friend ko to plan pa hehehe. So whether chill or kuracha, keri lang. Exciting pa rin naman hihihi. Wala rin pang-shoping pero keri na hahaha! Sana naman hindi ganon kamahal ang mga pampasalubong :).

I just finished packing. Ang tagal ko matapos. Di na sanay magtravel. Well, it’s been a while din kasi. Last out of the country trip was in April 2013 pa. Even local travels na pangmatagalan, 2013 din yung last ko.

I’ll try to share our Pasyal Japan as soon as I can hehe.

Weekend

I spent my weekend planning what to bring and doing last minute shopping for things I need in this trip.

Some friends and I also watched Achy Breaky Hearts this afternoon. Fan kasi ako ni JSM and RY hehehe. At medyo nakakarelate kasi ako sa linyang “kailan ka ikakasal?”. Bakit nga ba masyadong big deal yun? Worst pa was I was asked that many times during the wake of my parents. Kotang kota na ako sa ganyang question hehehe. Basta ang sa akin, if it’s meant to be, it will happen kahit kailan pa yan. No need to stress about it.

O sya, need to try sleeping even for just a few hours. Have a great week ahead. Oh, looks like there will be a holiday on July 6! The palace will decide by Monday or Tuesday according to news. Good for all of us working peeps. Good for me kasi nakatipid ako ng isang leave hihihi! Good night!

2016 Week 25 Recap: Staying Home

June 13-19, 2016

Short update.

I was still not feeling well early last week so I opted to go on sick leave on Monday. I also requested to work from home on Tuesday and Wednesday since I was dreading the commute to work, especially that most students were already back in school starting June 13. Yun lang, I missed my teammates’ (s’, kasi several of them) birthday treat hehe. Keri na. Health first before anything else. Meron pa kasing konting trembling and feeling of weakness nung Wednesday. By Thursday, I was already bored staying at home so I went back to the office. Thanks, Uber hehe.

On Saturday, one friend wanted to go out and do something, anything so I suggested that we meet on Saturday night for dinner and movies. Saturday night since she works on night shift so day time talaga ang rest day nya. Also, it was Father’s Day on Sunday, so there might be too many people.

I attended an anticipated mass before we met, in case I will get lazy to go out on Sunday.

We had dinner at Lombardi’s (again) at Shang. Gusto ko uli kasi matikman yung cherry walnut cheesecake nila hehe. Plus all the other restos were full that time. Dinner time na kasi. We watched the last full show of Me Before You, after. Nakakaiyak huhu. But realistic naman. Pero nakakaiyak pa rin. I was planning to read the book pero after watching the movie, huwag na lang. Nakakaiyak talaga kasi hehehe.

That’s it, pancit. And now, more than halfway of this week has gone by again.

2016 Week 23 Recap: Happy Birthday, Kiddos!

May 30 – June 5, 2016

Work

All of us are really just trying complete everything before the big launch. Aside from the final stages of testing, we still have the reports to finalize. Deployment planning meetings are more frequent nowadays too. I just can’t wait for this to be completed. Maiiyak siguro ako pag natapos na ito hahaha!

Travel

I received a call from Discovery Tour last Monday, informing me that my NSO-issued birth certificate is not readable enough so they were requesting me to submit even a certified true copy from my local registry. Good thing that I still have extra copies of the one my father requested for me more than a decade ago (as in January 2001). I asked if that was ok and they said yes so I sent it over last Wednesday. I did not receive any other calls so I’m assuming that the copy I sent would work. Still crossing my fingers that our visas will be approved.

Up next, my friend and I would need to finalize our itinerary so that we can start searching for the most economical train tickets to buy. My boss mentioned before about JR pass and that might work for us depending on our itinerary. Research, research, research! Am I excited? Mixed emotions, to be honest hehehe. But I’m sure I’ll enjoy this trip no matter what.

Weekend

Our former colleague’s kids turns 1 and 3 this June and so they had a combined birthday party, which a friend and I attended on Saturday, just so we have something to do on a weekend hahaha! Plus, the event was near our apartments so dyahe namang mag-no pa di ba? My friend and I met first at Shang to buy gifts. Thanks to an ongoing sale at Osh Kosh, we were able to buy cute dresses for 50% off and 30% off. We decided on “group gift” so we just split the total amount. Hay buti na lang. Medyo nakatipid ako don, pero yung naitipid ko, ipinanood namin ng sine after the children’s party hehehe.

Realizations during the party:

  • We also need to be bibo as parents because we need to help our children during games hahaha
  • Hats off to the dads who were game to participate in one of the games. Pinasayaw pa sila nung host at wala lang, parang normal na lang sa kanila hehehe. Aliw.
  • Parang gusto ko na rin ng anak. Nuninuninuninu! :p

And speaking of children’s party, may isa pa akong pupuntahan sa July naman hehehe.

We went back to Shang at around 6:30 PM to watch The Nice Guys. It’s a comedy film and it did not fail to make us laugh. Also, I have a lot of “anong katangahan yan?!!!” moments hehehe. We went home after the movies.

I’m trying to spend as much time as I can with this friend because by God’s grace, she may be leaving for the US later this year. I’m praying that her and her fiance’s plans and application be granted. She deserves it. But before that, I hope we can also go back to Caramoan. We went there in 2012 and it was just so beautiful and untouched that we greatly enjoyed everything about the place despite being scammed by the promo we got from one of the groupon sites. Can’t remember anymore which site was that. Sana matuloy.

I went to mass on Sunday and spent some time at the mall looking for doll shoes. My problem however is that, I can’t wear super flat shoes because it triggers my plantar fasciitis, something that I don’t want to have again because, ouch ouch ouch! It was an unfruitful search so I just treated myself to beef stew and pecan pie for lunch at Almond Marina. I dropped by Watson’s later for some toiletries. Oh, I also was able to buy Treseme conditioner for a 30% discount! From Php 399 to Php 289! Pwede naman palang ganon kababa, bakit ba nila tinaasan presyo nito. Ang ganda pa naman sana. I’m thinking of buying more hehehe. Anyway, went home after that and spent the rest of the day watching TV while checking things online.

Another story…while on our way to Shang, we passed by a couple on the road. The girl was foreigner, the guy looks Pinoy. It looks like they were about to part ways and the guy was being sweet but looks like the girl was not happy as she was searching for something in her bag. I don’t know why but I have a bad feeling that the guy may just be using the girl. I seriously hope I am wrong though.

Anyway, I hope you all had a great week. Cheers to another great week ahead.

2016 Week 22 Recap: Japan Japan!

May 23-29, 2016

Travel

My friend and I are pushing through with our Japan travel in July. I can’t believe July is just around the corner. Time flies at over-speeding pace hehe. Anyway, I learned that all Japan visa applications can only be processed through accredited travel agencies. We coursed ours through Discover Tour, the same agency my friend used when they went to Mt. Fuji in 2015. Processing fee per person is Php 800.00 plus DHL’s delivery charge of Php 300.00 per package but this we still have to confirm because the change may have changed. Crossing our fingers for our visa’s approval hehe. We’ll know after 7 days.

Next up for us will be to finalize our itinerary and buy tickets in advance as applicable.

Weekend

I missed Makati so I asked my friend to accompany me roam around it on Saturday. I was able to buy a skirt at Landmark bazaar for less than Php 200.00 hehehe. I’m not really into dresses and skirts but I’m keeping some pieces for those times I need to. We also enjoyed Dad’s merienda. Lamon pa more hahaha.

On Sunday, it was just supposed to be mass and window shopping for shoes for me but my other friend requested if we can go out. She needs distraction since her fiance just went back to the US on Sunday morning and she didn’t want to be alone and just cry all day hehehe. So out we met at Shang for lunch, nail spa and movie.

We ate at Lombardi’s, an Italian restaurant the the East wing of Shang. It was both our first time and we both agreed that everything was good. We feasted on pizza, pasta and cherry walnut cheesecake. Haayyy….the cheesecake was so yummy! It’s now my new favorite hehehe. Expensive though hehehe. But I think everything was worth what we paid for.

We went to Nail Spa, the only nail salon in Shang, after lunch for a much needed TLC for our hands and feet.

We also watched Money Monster after. I did not know what the movie was all about prior buying our tickets but it was just the only movie we both wanted to take a chance on since it has George Clooney and Julia Roberts in it haha. But surprisingly, I enjoyed it because of the financial market component.

Went home after and spent the rest of the evening watching Sunday shows in ABS-CBN. Vizco’s, where I had breakfast on my birthday last March, and some other eateries in Baguio were featured in Rated K! A friend and I are now planning to try those hahaha. The question is, when? We’ll see about that.

TOTGA

My TOTGA (the one that got away) to this date was a dress I saw and liked in December, but did not buy because it was expensive and was not what I needed. I saw it again in April, but still hesitant in buying it because it was still not discounted. Now, I consider it my TOTGA as of Saturday because I might be attending a wedding in July and that dress would have been perfect for the occasion haaayy. So good luck with the dress hunting again hehehe,

Anyway, I hope you all had a great week. Cheers to another great week ahead.

2016 Week 20 Recap: Movie Marathon

May 9-15, 2016

Monday, May 9 was election day. I was planning to go early so that I can leave for Manila earlier, but well, hello sleep hehehe. It was almost closing time when I reached the precinct but at least there were no more lines. Done voting in less than 5 minutes. I double checked my receipt and it had all the names I shaded. I was relieved.

I am also glad election is over. It is our responsibility as Filipinos to support the new administration, regardless if it was our candidate of choice who won or not. Again, it is our responsibility.

I proceeded to town after voting. I had an early dinner at Vizcos and then was able to ride a 7PM Victory Liner trip. No long lines this time, thank God. Arrived in Manila at around 1AM so at least there was still enough time to rest before the new work week.

Project MTM

I haven’t gone back to graduate school yet since after my father died in 2015. Until now, I’m still contemplating whether to push through or not. Contemplating because, I think I would like to take a new path now. But while I haven’t fully decided yet to stop, I met up with a classmate to copy her reviewers. We spent the whole morning discussing about her new venture and sometimes about our future plans. I wish her well.

Unfortunately, it seems like the USB got corrupted huhuhu so I need to copy from her again. Bad thing though is that, my most recent financial files are there and I haven’t backed those up in the laptop. Hay naku.

Weekend

I can’t remember the last time I watched a movie. I think I wanted to watch a movie in February but was not able to do it. I also have 2 tickets I won last December during our team party. It did not have an expiration date but better to use it now just to be sure. And so, my friend and I did a movie marathon. Not 2 but 3 movies hehehe. In between the movies were spent eating and window shopping. We also availed of Dad’s merienda buffet, the bill paid by my friend hehe. We also checked out some of the shops and tried some clothes. No buying.

Speaking of buying, I want to buy a Samsonite luggage. Citibank has a 15% discount promo until May 31. However, I don’t know anyone who owns a Citibank credit card. My previous applications were always denied. According to HR friends, it is because I work in a BPO. Huwell. Let’s see about the luggage din.

Since it was a payday weekend, there were a lot of people at the mall. Daming pera mga tao hehehe. Sana lang nakapagtabi na muna sila for savings bago sila magwaldas.

I hope you all had a great week. Cheers to another great week ahead.

2016 Week 8 Recap: Nieces, Malls, Freebies

February 15-21, 2016

Work

So the vendor did not show up again as committed. Oh well, nothing else to do but chase them. Maybe they are also waiting for the downpayment. So I processed that in the hope that they will work faster once they receive it.

Niece Love

Twice this week, my niece called (one so early in the morning) to ask me when I’ll be coming home. I told her it might be during the Holy Week. Yay! Namimiss ako ng bulilit hahaha. Her older sister also texted one time para mangamusta lang. Yey! Nagtext ang dalaginding! Speaking of, the older sister will be graduating this March or April. Hindi na mapigilan ang pagdadalaga nya huhuhu. Don’t grow up too fast, bebe. Gusto ko pa rin clingy ka sa akin. Pero wait, di na ba uso ang Kinder graduation ngayon? Kasi wala daw graduation si bunging bulilit.

Living Quarters

In an effort to avoid buying and/or over-buying stuff I already have but forgotten about it, I started listing down every item in my clothes cabinet hahaha. The goal was to eliminate everything that I don’t use/need anymore. I also made a number as to how many of each item I should have to be considered “enough” based on my usual routine and activities. I was tested right away when a friend and I visited the mall on Saturday. Suffice to say that it helps when you quantify everything because it’s easier to turn away from stuff that you know you already have more than enough and those that you still lack hehehe. I’m not yet done but I’ll continue sorting and tallying for the rest next week.

A friend has also been decluttering lately and she gave me her washing machine because since her helper left years ago, she just opted to have her laundry washed in a laundry shop. So, I tested it this afternoon. Medyo nag-inarte nung una pero nakuha naman sa gentle kalampag hehe. Or ako lang ang di marunong gumamit? Hahaha. It’s the automatic type where you set everything and let it do its work. But since the nozzle is not yet compatible with my faucet, I still had to manually load water.

The pechay is thriving, although 2 seedlings did not make it huhu. Hope the rest will survive.

Weekend

It was mall time on Saturday with a friend. It was more of window shopping but I scored an office pant that was on sale and that fits me so I bought it anyway. Now, I don’t need to buy anymore pants unless one gives way and would need a replacement. After attending the evening mass today, I also went to another mall for some errands.

One last about shopping hahaha…I tried a dress last December which I really really liked but I did not buy it because it was expensive plus I cannot think of an event where I can wear it that time. But now, I’m looking for one. Unfortunately, I can’t find the dress anymore. I saw the other colors but not the one I like huhu. I don’t wear dresses regularly. Di ako nasanay kaya ilang ako haha. In the past years, I wear only once a year, that is, if I attend our company’s year end party, or if I attend a friend’s wedding. We wore uniforms in high school but that’s different. I have attempted to dress in the past but I always failed hahaha. This year, I’m giving it another try. Let’s see.

I have just watched Magic Mike XXL to cap the weekend and before writing this blog entry.

I hope you all had a great week. Cheers to another great week ahead. Goodnight for now.

This Is It

Yes, MJ’s “This Is It”. If you haven’t seen it yet, go watch it in the big screen and have a glimpse of how MJ is during rehersals. He’s very professional, really very hands-on, perfectionist and humble. MJ is one great performer, he uses his whole body. Man, the moves! There’s no one else like him.
The entire crew of his supposed London concert is very lucky to have worked with him. Imagine being coached of dance steps by MJ himself. I would say it really was a priviledge.
One thing that struck me was when he said this to the crew: “You are all very talented. Continue giving your all”. What a way to inspire people.
MJ, your music will live forever.
