2018 Week 4: New Toy | School Play

January 22-28, 2018

I already got the iPhone X that I won from a raffle in September. I braved going to Makati last Friday just to pick it up. But it’s still in its box until now. Di pa kasi ako nakakabili ng case hehehehe. But worry not, it will be unboxed in the coming days.

iPhoneX

↑You’re finally here!

Few days to go and January is up. So so fast!

I need my payslip. I’m confused with the amounts I got for my salary and the sick and vacation leave conversions I got. May namali ba sa computations!? And of course, I want to see my new tax after the TRAIN implementation hehehehe.

Last Saturday, we went to UP to watch a friend’s daughter’s school play. The play is entitled Guardians the Musical. School children from Nursery to Kinder participated in the play. It’s all about the story of grandparents Lolo Angelo and Lola Angela and about their goodness in their community.

It was such a delight to watch all these kids. Sari-saring klase ng bata. May bibo, may makulit, may deadma lang during presentation hahahaha. It’s also good to be reminded about love, respect, eating healthy, caring for the environment and other good traits.

After the play, my friend and I went to The Chocolate Kiss for a late lunch.

ChickenPorkAdobo

↑Chicken Pork Adobo. Php 195.00.

I went to Ayala the 30th after to do some window shopping and pick up some groceries. Wala talaga akong nashop. I saw some jackets that were on sale at Terranova kaso ang tagal magreply ng pamangkin ko kung anong gusto so umuwi na ako hehe.

On Sunday, I went to Megamall for mass and some more window shopping. no worries…wala pa rin akong binili hehehehe. Nanawa na ako.

Another friend wanted to meet up so she could give the Korean goodies for me. The loot contains some dried persimmon, few pieces of chocolates, citron tea, face masks and hand creams! Happiness! Hehehe.

We also saw the movie Ang Dalawang Mrs. Reyes. It was hilarious and just light. Perfect way to cap a stressful week.

I wasn’t able to do some readings this week because I was out both days last weekend. No time to bum. Plus, I have a lot in my mind lately that I’m distracted. This too shall pass.

Hope you all have a great week ahead.

2017 Week 47: Milestones | Party Preparations | International Bazaar

November 20-26, 2017

Work

We were able to deploy to all employees one of the systems we’ve been working on. I say I was in luck with this deployment. For one, we were running late with all the approvals to to have it deployed. We need at least 3 days lead time to coordinate things. I did it just the day before. Next, it was Thanksgiving week in the US and some of the approvers were US-based. But they approved still hehehehe. During the deployment, we discovered that there was a wrong folder name in our checklist. I asked if we can treat that as an emergency type of deployment. The implementer was in a good mood and he said yes hahaha! And so we were able to deploy on time! Whew.

The project team went out for dinner the next day to celebrate this milestone. The boss was with us so at least we were not restricted with the Php 150.00/head budget hehehehe. We ate at Mr. Choi in Robinson’s Magnolia. I ate still even if I can’t taste the food.

↑ Rice with cheesy sauce!

↑ Buttered shrimp

↑ Fried rice with sauce and Beef broccoli

↑ Chicken which we got for free because our boss has a Mr. Choi card hehe.

On Friday, the officers went out again for a working dinner. We went to Banapple in Gateway this time. We had to deliberate who to give awards to this year and we did that over dinner. It’s good to do this sometimes – get out of the meeting rooms and do your meetings outside. You just have to ensure that you are able to do you agenda.

Weekend

On Sunday, a friend and I went to the International Bazaar at the PICC Forum. We bought our tickets the week before. We were there as early as 9:30 AM but there were already a lot of people! Our main goal was to buy chocolates from Switzerland because it was on sale for Php 100.00, which we were able to do but had to endure all the pushing because there was no organized line hehe.

We also tried some of the food from the different countries. I bought a French sandwich, a Syrian baklava, Vietnamese iced coffee (my favorite when we went to Vietnam some years ago!), and fried spring rolls. They were all good as per my friend. I know they were but sadly, I can’t taste any of them to enjoy the flavors! Sad life, that moment hahahahaha.

We were giggling like kids and amazed at how some of the people there are “experts” when it comes to bazaars because they came ready with all their trolleys and big shopping bags hehehe. As for me and my friend, we only brought our own eco bags haha.

We went back to Shangri-la to watch Coco. I cried a bucket because it was all about family – both living and dead. And because of that movie, I vowed to always have something prepared for November 1 hehehehe. Whether that’s only fiction or not, I’d like to think that on that special occasion, our loved ones do really visit us.

The end. Have a great week ahead.

2017 Week 36: Almost Over | Weekend Laziness

September 4-10, 2017

The project we are working on is almost complete. Well, at least the bulk of it. We are targeting to deploy on September 18 even though the launch is still in October. This is to ensure that everything is working in production prior October. Konting-konti na lang, makakatulog din ako ng maayos hehe.

It was a tiring week last week so I was lazy to be a domestic diva.

On Saturday, I woke up late and watched around 3 movies in Netflix.

I went out early evening to meet with a friend. We watched Love to the Stars and Back. The movie will make you laugh and cry.

Joshua Garcia is a promising actor. The kid has talent. This is his second movie I watched and in both movies, I really think he did great.

The supermarket was still open so I dropped by to pick up a few items.

I was really feeling lazy moving my butt last Sunday but I had to force myself because I still need to cook lunch and dinner for this week haha. So off I went to the supermarket again. And then I labored in the kitchen for at least 5 hours. I should really be doing this on a Saturday  hahahaha.

Some meals I cooked.

Baked Cream Dory 1

↑ Baked cream dory

Macaroni soup

↑ Creamy chicken sopas. Perfect for the rainy days! No hotdogs because I have extended my no pork drama as long as I can hehe.

The end.

Have a great week ahead.

2017 Week 34: Resting When I Can | Unstable Food Budget

August 21-27, 2017

Last Monday, August 21 was a holiday. I spent some hours cooking the vegetables I bought in Baguio. The rest of the day was spent just relaxing aka surfing the net.

Last Wednesday, I went to the grocery to pick up some items aka more kitchen appliances and kitchenware (steamer and Pyrex baking dish and mixing bowl because these were on sale) and roasted chicken for my packed lunch and dinner this week.

This is another long weekend but I just spent it in the apartment. I did some domestic chores on Saturday. The rest of the day was spent watching movies in Netflix. I’m taking advantage of the one month free access teehee.

After mass on Sunday, I dropped by the grocery store to buy some groceries again for next week’s packed lunch and dinner. I was able to steam the fish and vegetables. I have marinated the chicken and I’ll bake it tomorrow. In between cooking, I was also manning the washing machine. Talk about multi-tasking haha! It worked because I was done with both chores after 4 hours whew. The rest of the day was spent watching 2 movies again haha.

I was consistent in bringing packed lunch and dinner in the past two weeks, and I plan to do so as long as I can. However, I am always shocked every time I pay my groceries. It’s so expensive to buy everything in the supermarket. I wish there’s a nearer wet market in my place but there’s none. Therefore, I need to review and adjust my budget. I know I need to reallocate more for groceries now. I don’t know how much yet. Oh, I have an idea. I think it will help me if I record all I groceries for my meals every week. This will give me an average of how much I spend each week. Ok, yes, I’ll do that. This is also a practice for me in preparing a family budget in the future haha.

Steamer

↑ My new kitchen appliance. I’ve used it earlier to steam fish and okra.

Pyrex set 2

↑ This Pyrex set (baking dish and mixing bowl) was on sale at 30% off. I paid less than Php 1,300.00 for these 2 pieces.

Pyrex set 1

↑ Another Pyrex set (loaf dish and pie plate) on sale at 30% off. I paid less than Php 1,200.00 for these 2 pieces. I bought this two weeks ago, together with the oven.

DreamStove

↑ This is the gas range that I want. It’s stainless so no rusting as per sales agent. It’s expensive though. And all gas. I’m not sure if I should instead buy the model where it’s a combination of electric and gas. Which should I get? Need to research more.

Anyway, that’s it. Have a great week ahead.

2017 Week 30: Working Weekend…Not

July 24-30, 2017

The system is ready for testing. Unfortunately, there are a lot of bugs and the user interface is not seamless yet. Hopefully, it stabilizes after all those findings last week.

And so, I was supposed to do some testing last Sunday. However, when I was about to start, electricity went off. Hence, I decided to just go to the mall and unwind a bit.

Unwinding means an early dinner at Yellow Cab and watching 2 movies hehehe. My friend was available so she joined me.

We watched Finally Found Someone. I cried the most at the scenes with JLC and his mom and siblings. #medyorelate #medyopagod

We also watched Cars 3. Well, the movie reminded us that my friend and I are getting old and that maybe one of the things we should be doing now is coaching. I have some coaching sessions sometimes at work but not much. Anyway…

My friend came from Bacolod and gave me some goodies – napoleones and cheese bars. It was my first time to taste napoleones and it is so yummy!!!! Napoleones is a layered puff pastry with custard cream filling and with glazed white sugar on top. I saw a 2011 article saying that this is available at Roli’s bakeshop stall at SM Megamall. I am not sure if it’s still there but it’s worth checking out hehe.

I also did 2 batches of laundry, mended some clothes, and ironed all office clothes. I usually do the ironing on weekends because I hate ironing one at a time, worst during weekdays.

My nephew has completed his OJT. He already went home but he’ll be back next week to get his other stuff. I hope he learned a lot.

My officemate started her training to becoming a registered financial planner. Their speaker last Saturday was Mr. Efren Ll. Cruz. I asked her to let him sign my copy of the book he authored and she was able to do it. I’m ecstatic! I have his book for almost a decade now.

SignedBook

Thank you, Sir for that message. Still working on improving my financial standing hehe.

I watched some videos about capsule wardrobe last Saturday. I was inspired to 1) double check again (because I’ve decluttered at least twice this year already) the things I own to make sure that I only keep those that I use and make me happy, 2) have a color palette and style because this in a way helps establish a personal branding and it’s easier to mix and match. I’ll work on #1 in August. For #2, I’ll  start when I need to buy new stuff because refreshing my clothing is not practical at this time as all are still in good condition. I still want to get my money’s worth for the items that I have now. I already know the color palette I like. It will be blue, gray, black, white, and maybe blush pink because I think these are the colors that best suit me.

And that’s it. Have a blessed week ahead.

Peace,

Mylene
