2018 Week 1: Happy New Year!

January 1-7, 2018

Happy New Year!!!! I hope your first week of 2018 was great!

I did not have any plans on January 1 but few days before New Year, an uncle asked our plans, and so instant January 1 lunch invite to all the uncles and aunties on Mama’s side hehe. Nasanay na kasi silang nag-iinvite ang nanay ko dati kaya siguro until now, hinahanap pa rin nila.

I forgot to take a picture of our pang fiestang handa sayang.

↑Eye to eye with the newest member of our extended family. Such a cute baby! Tapos umiyak sya after a few minutes na hawak ko hahahahaha!

I was on leave on January 2 so I spent most of the time cleaning the house and dismantling the Christmas tree. Medyo hassle pala yung type ng tree na nabili ko hahaha. I did it before leaving for Manila kasi baka nakatayo pa yun sa next na uwi ko nyahahaha.

I traveled back to Manila in the early evening. Akala ko naman nagsibalikan na ang mga tao. Aba, blockbuster pa rin sa terminal! Buti na lang umabot naman ako next bus. At buti na lang mabilis naman ang byahe.

And it was back to work on January 3 but I was already waiting for the weekend to come nyahahahaha!

Weekend

I spent Saturday reading a romance novel at natapos ko maghapon hehe. For a change, I was able to resist tending to my Farmville.

↑Kilig kilig din pag may time. I tried looking for other books in several National Bookstore and Powerbooks branches to no avail. I’ll try the other branches.

I miss this kind of relaxation. I’ll try to read more books again, not just blogs. Actually, marami akong dapat basahin. Kaso mas kailangan ng mga yun ng mas matinding brain cells eh, kaso pag weekends, nakabakasyon din ang work brain cells ko hehehe.

I met up with a friend on Saturday evening for dinner. We ate at Gangnam Wings in SM Megmall. We ordered their chicken and beef bulgogi cheese fries. Ang sarappppp! Umulit kami ng order hihihi. No pictures sa sobrang gutom. It was my first proper meal that day eh hehehe.

I went with her after dinner to canvas for winter clothes as she and her officemates are off to Korea by the end of this month.

I also did some household chores. Some lang kasi di pa rin ako tapos.

I also went to the derma para sa kung anong anik-anik sa UA at fez.

And someone got too excited with all the year end sales at the mall. Too excited and was not able to resist hence she went home with some shopping bags hehehe. No regrets naman because I wanted all the items I got.

Ganito kasi yun. Sometime last year, I tried on some clothes in several shops. While I wanted those that I tried, I knew I won’t have the heart to buy them at regular prices kasi sobrang ang mamahal talaga hahaha!. Kahit magdildil ako ng asin, hindi ko pa rin maatim na bilhin! And so I just tried to check out if those items are still around during this sale. At nandon sila! As in lahat ng bet ko noon. Naloka ako sa tuwa! Hahahaha! Paano ka naman hindi mawiwindang eh halos lahat 50% off.

Yung isang nachambahan ko, jeans sa Gap. I am not sure of the exact amount pero I think between Php 2,500-3,000 siguro. Nabili ko sya ng Php 995.00 na lang tapos himalang may kasya pala sa akin don. Choosy pa ba ako? Syempre hindi na hahaha!

Basta, natutuwa na ako ngayon sa mga end of season sales hehehehe! I’ll do the same strategy again this year – fit potential buys and see if they are still available during sales. If yes and I was able to grab it, meant to be hehehehe.

Ok, enough about shopping. Susmio, first week of the year, gastos pinagkaabalahan ko hehehehe. But I have budget for that so I’m not worried. Pero kailangan nang tumigil kasi pag tinuloy ko pa, yun wala nang budget hehehehe.

Ok, the end for week 1. Hope you guys have a great week ahead.

2017 Week 51: Is It The Holidays Yet?

December 18-24, 2017

To be honest, I am not yet feeling the Christmas spirit this week. Work is still stressing me out (project and a specific person). I’m trying to control the negative feelings but I just can’t help but feel bad sometimes, especially that it’s affecting everyone else. I am successful in just feeling positive most of the time. I force myself so as to focus on the other stuff that needs to be done as there are a lot of things being affected by the issue with this one project. And other projects had to be taken cared of as well. At least I was successful this week. But still too tired. And sad that I can’t attend the dawn masses because I am still in the office at that hour. Kaluoy much. But this too, shall pass. We met with the project sponsor and at least he is not expecting us to work during the holidays so that was a relief.

And because of all the issues at work, I forgot to reserve a ticket in advance. The earliest that I got the moment I remembered it last week was already December 24 at 8:30 AM waaaaah!!! But it was a blessing in disguise because in any case, I cannot leave work early on my Friday shift. And my apartment needs some tender loving care before the holidays so at least I had all of Saturday to do it. Plus of course, the high school BFF and I still didn’t have any official Christmas dinner although it’s us who eat out most of the time hehehehe.

And so we had dinner last night at Brotzeit German Bar and Restaurant. We tried their sausages, crispy pata, salad, beer and a dessert.

Sunday was spent going home to Baguio. No traffic northbound so yey! It worried me a bit when I was seeing all posts on Saturday about longer travel times and all those accidents in NLEX and SCTEX.

I arrived in the afternoon and decided to put up the Christmas tree I bought in Divisoria last October. And I found out that the ornaments I bought were not enough. Amp. But this will do for now hahahaha.

↑No ornaments at the back of the tree hehe.

My 2 nieces and I attended the Christmas eve mass because I have not attended mass yet that Sunday.

↑Christmas eve 2017 edition. Antok na antok na.

The end.

2017 Week 50: Eating is Life, More Eating is Lifer

December 11-17, 2017

*Ignore the grammar hehe.

The eating did not end during the parties last week. On December 11, our IT Sr. Director treated us to a buffet dinner at Circles Makati Shangri-la. This time, I also won a Rustan’s GC worth Php 1,500. May pambili na ako ng Mac lipstick or hmmm….secret hahaha.

On December 15, our boss treated us to dinner. We ate at Elias. The food was ok but I think the servings do not justify the price. But still good food so yay. We also had dessert at Paper Moon to sample some of their cakes and crepes.

↑We tried the original, chocolate and mango mille crepe and the red velvet mousse cake. My most favorite are the original mille crepe and the red velvet mousse cake.

On December 16, I had dinner with my office BFFs at Cyma. It was my first time there and I also love the food. Well, I generally love food hehe. But their salad is so good. I want to recreate it. It seems easy but I think it’s their dressing that makes it taste unique.

↑Roka salata. I want to do this at home. Where to get the dressing though?

↑My order. Moussaka, which is Greece’s national dish, according to the menu. It was heavy so I was only able to eat half and had the other half wrapped for another meal. Php 450.00.

↑Ripe mango yogurt shake. Php 195.00

On December 17, I went to the mall to just de-stress, because even with all these eating, we’ve been extending hours in the office for the past weeks! There was an ongoing Converse shoes and bags sale and I was able to find a bag for my teenager niece. I had no choice but to let her choose to make sure that she wants what she’ll get. No element of surprise but at least I know she’ll love it because it’s her choice hehe. I sent her several pictures of the bags which I think she’ll like until a winner was selected. My original plan was to just let her buy something in Baguio but the sale happened so it was a good opportunity. But I told her later that I’ll just be donating the bag instead. She sent me a sad smiley hehehe. I’ll just try to wrap it in a way that it doesn’t look like a bag and see if she’ll still be surprised haha.

I had late lunch/early dinner at Racks and feasted on one of their rib dishes. Eating is life for real.

I’m not really stressed out with shopping for gifts because I have already completed almost everything last November and I am only gifting kids this time. Plus, it’s not really a norm in our family. However, I remember my mom wrapping something for us on some years when we were kids so I decided to also wrap some things for the kids this year.

↑Lunch of ribs and bread mac and cheese.

The end.

2017 Week 47: Milestones | Party Preparations | International Bazaar

November 20-26, 2017

Work

We were able to deploy to all employees one of the systems we’ve been working on. I say I was in luck with this deployment. For one, we were running late with all the approvals to to have it deployed. We need at least 3 days lead time to coordinate things. I did it just the day before. Next, it was Thanksgiving week in the US and some of the approvers were US-based. But they approved still hehehehe. During the deployment, we discovered that there was a wrong folder name in our checklist. I asked if we can treat that as an emergency type of deployment. The implementer was in a good mood and he said yes hahaha! And so we were able to deploy on time! Whew.

The project team went out for dinner the next day to celebrate this milestone. The boss was with us so at least we were not restricted with the Php 150.00/head budget hehehehe. We ate at Mr. Choi in Robinson’s Magnolia. I ate still even if I can’t taste the food.

↑ Rice with cheesy sauce!

↑ Buttered shrimp

↑ Fried rice with sauce and Beef broccoli

↑ Chicken which we got for free because our boss has a Mr. Choi card hehe.

On Friday, the officers went out again for a working dinner. We went to Banapple in Gateway this time. We had to deliberate who to give awards to this year and we did that over dinner. It’s good to do this sometimes – get out of the meeting rooms and do your meetings outside. You just have to ensure that you are able to do you agenda.

Weekend

On Sunday, a friend and I went to the International Bazaar at the PICC Forum. We bought our tickets the week before. We were there as early as 9:30 AM but there were already a lot of people! Our main goal was to buy chocolates from Switzerland because it was on sale for Php 100.00, which we were able to do but had to endure all the pushing because there was no organized line hehe.

We also tried some of the food from the different countries. I bought a French sandwich, a Syrian baklava, Vietnamese iced coffee (my favorite when we went to Vietnam some years ago!), and fried spring rolls. They were all good as per my friend. I know they were but sadly, I can’t taste any of them to enjoy the flavors! Sad life, that moment hahahahaha.

We were giggling like kids and amazed at how some of the people there are “experts” when it comes to bazaars because they came ready with all their trolleys and big shopping bags hehehe. As for me and my friend, we only brought our own eco bags haha.

We went back to Shangri-la to watch Coco. I cried a bucket because it was all about family – both living and dead. And because of that movie, I vowed to always have something prepared for November 1 hehehehe. Whether that’s only fiction or not, I’d like to think that on that special occasion, our loved ones do really visit us.

The end. Have a great week ahead.

2017 Week 46: Our Own Summit

November 13-19, 2017

It was supposed to be a very long weekend in Manila due to the ASEAN Summit but coincidentally, it was also our department’s annual summit! Since we have colleagues coming over from some parts of the globe, and logistics have already been arranged, everything has to push through. The upside though is that at least we don’t have to juggle too much with work as most of our team’s clients are also on vacation. So at least we have full attention on the summit, because our days were also full with all sorts of meetings!

I attended 3 days of the summit. Most days were challenging to the brain cells but all days were also overflowing with food hehehehehe. We also had the chance to meet and bond with our corporate boss, and some colleagues who we just mostly get to interact via email or calls.

↑ We had a hands-on activity and since the trainer doesn’t know everyone, he gave us names with a little trivia about them. The names are references to the folders we should be accessing. I was Ada Lovelace at that time. I had no idea who she was until this piece of paper hehe.

Our IT head required us to sit down with non-team members to network more during breaks. While I was looking forward to these breaks to just keep quiet because I still had sore throat and I fear that I will eventually lose my voice from too much talking, I just had to comply. My voice was with me all throughout. Whew.

On the second day, we had dinner at Jade Garden in Glorietta. My oh my! I can’t forget the prawn salad and the Peking duck! Kaya pala mahal si duck kasi ubod ng sarap, well at least yung natikman ko hehe. Everyone was also commenting how good the prawn salad was, even our western colleagues! Hanggang ngayon iniisip ko pa rin at sana makakain uli ako don hihihi.

↑ Prawn salad – not sure if it’s the correct name but this is so yummy!

Overall, it was a productive week for the group.

I stayed home on Saturday to rest again and do some household chores aka laundry (again) because I am running out of work clothes (again).

On Sunday, a friend and I went to Tesoro’s Handicrafts in Makati to buy tickets for the International Bazaar 2017 which is happening on Sunday, November 26 at the PICC.

↑ Our ticket!

We had lunch at Buffalo Wild Wings in Glorietta. I think my stomach has issues with chicken wings of those types. Yesterday was the second time I experienced stomach problems after eating chicken wings. I am not sure if it’s because of the flavors or how it’s cooked because I don’t get the same from for instance Jollibee chicken wings haha. Choosy masyado ang tyan ko ata.

↑ I forgot to take pictures of the food sa sobrang gutom hehe.

I went to mass then dropped by the derma for an appointment.

I was also lucky that a therapist was available last night so I had 2 hours of a badly needed massage.

The end.

Have a great week ahead.

Pahabol na kwento: A former colleague who had lupus and has been frequently in and out of the hospital for the past 3 years is now gone. So sad especially for his wife and young kids but at least no more pain for him. His youngest is my godson. Don ko naramdaman na the kid is now partly my responsibility bilang inaanak ko sya. When I shared this to another friend, ganon din pala yung naramdaman nya nung namatay din ang kumpare nya.

Rest in peace, pare.

Grabe talaga ang buhay. So unpredictable. We just have to make the most out of it.
